Abstract: Disclosed are a tandem catalyst for synthesizing methyl acetate from carbon dioxide, a method for preparing the same, and a method for preparing methyl acetate using the same. The tandem catalyst of the present invention includes a first catalyst having a core-shell structure including a composite metal oxide core and a silica shell surrounding a surface of the composite metal oxide core, and a second catalyst including nano-ferrierite (N-FER) zeolite.

Abstract: Methods for synthesizing a nano-sized zeolite beta are described. The method may include mixing alumina and tetraethylammonium hydroxide to form an aluminum solution; mixing silica, additional TEAOH, and water to form a silica slurry; and adding the aluminum solution into the silica slurry and mixing to form an aluminosilicate gel. The method may further include transferring the aluminosilicate gel to an autoclave operated at 120° C. to 160° C. for 2 to 4 days at a rotational speed of 60 to 100 rotations per minute to form a zeolite precursor colloid; washing the zeolite precursor colloid with water to form a washed colloid; drying the washed colloid at 80° C. to 150° C. for 6 to 24 hours to form a zeolite precursor; and calcining the zeolite precursor at 400° C. to 650° C. for 2 to 8 hours to form the nano-sized zeolite beta.

Abstract: Carbon nanofiber doped alumina (Al—CNF) supported MoCo catalysts in hydrodesulfurization (HDS), and/or boron doping, e.g., up to 5 wt % of total catalyst weight, can improve catalytic efficiency. Al—CNF-supported MoCo catalysts, (Al—CNF—MoCo), can reduce the sulfur concentration in fuel, esp. liquid fuel, to below the required limit in a 6 h reaction time. Thus, Al—CNF—MoCo has a higher catalytic activity than Al-MoCo, which may be explained by higher mesoporous surface area and better dispersion of MoCo metals on the AlCNF support relative to alumina support. The BET surface area of Al-MoCo may be 75% less than Al—CNF—MoCo, e.g., 166 vs. 200 m2/g. SEM images indicate that the catalyst nanoparticles can be evenly distributed on the surface of the CNF. The surface area of the AlMoCoB5% may be 206 m2/g, which is higher than AlMoCoB0% and AlMoCoB2%, and AlMoCoB5% has the highest HDS activity, removing more than 98% sulfur and below allowed levels.

Abstract: Provided herein are catalysts for dewaxing of a feedstock, the catalyst comprising between about 40 wt. % and about 99.9 wt. % zeolite, between about 0 wt. % and about 40 wt. % binder and at least about 0.1 wt. % noble metal, as well as catalyst systems, methods and products produced using the catalysts. The zeolite having a crystal comprising a largest included sphere less than or equal to about 7.5 angstroms, a largest diffusing sphere greater than or equal to about 5.0 angstroms, and a silica to alumina ratio greater than or equal to about 100:1. The catalyst having a temperature-programmed ammonia desorption (“TPAD”) of less than about 0.25 mmol/g.
