Abstract: The invention relates to the field of the protection of security documents such as for example banknotes and identity documents against counterfeit and illegal reproduction. In particular, the present invention provides methods for producing optical effect layers exhibiting one or more indicia on a substrate, said method comprising a step of exposing a coating layer comprising non-spherical magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles to a magnetic field of a magnetic-field generating device so as to orient at least a part of the magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles; a step of applying a top coating composition on top of the coating layer and in the form of one or more indicia, and a step of at least partially curing the coating layer and the one or more indicia with a curing unit.

Abstract: A method for forming a film on a surface of a steel sheet includes applying a treatment solution for forming a film containing a fibrous material to the surface of the steel sheet by using a coater under a condition in which a difference between a speed of the steel sheet and a speed of an applicator of the coater is 1.0 m/min or more, inclining the surface of the steel sheet, to which the treatment solution for forming a film has been applied, at an angle of 10° or more with respect to a horizontal plane until drying is started, and thereafter drying the steel sheet.

Abstract: The application provides a product with a protective coating. Prepare a first precursor dispersion comprising a first active organic precursor, and the first active organic precursor is a fluorine-free monomer. Prepare a second precursor dispersion comprising a second active organic precursor, and the second active organic precursor is a fluorine-containing monomer. Apply the first precursor dispersion to a product body, and dry the applied first precursor dispersion to form a first dried layer. Apply the second precursor dispersion to the first dried layer to cover the first dried layer, and dry the applied second precursor dispersion to form a second dried layer, so that the first active organic precursor and the second active organic precursor are polymerized to obtain a product with a protective coating.

Abstract: Provided is a preparation method for a double-layer working medium target tape with a plasma-enhanced interfacial bonding force for a micro laser thruster. Aiming at the problem that in an existing micro laser thruster, when a working medium is ablated by a laser beam, due to a weak interlayer interfacial bonding force between a transparent film substrate and the coating working medium, sputtering or bulging occurs, which remarkably reduces propulsive performance, a method for treating a surface of a transparent film substrate with a low-temperature plasma is used to increase surface energy of a film and an adhesive force of a working medium layer on a surface of the film, thereby enhancing the interlayer interfacial bonding force. According to the method in the present disclosure, the transparent film substrate is treated with the low-temperature plasma.

Abstract: A silicon-based coating composition for a wide range of mold surfaces, which composition is formed from a mixture of constituents comprising appropriate portions of silazane, siloxane, and silane, and optionally organic solvent. The composition, after curing, results in an extreme release product that is non-transferable to the finished part, allowing for proper adhesion of coatings or adhesives to the finished surface without additional surface preparation. The cured coatings are ultrathin, having a thickness between 0.1 μm and 3 μm, and having a hardness between about 4H and about 9H.

Abstract: Some variations provide a method of forming a transparent icephobic coating, comprising: obtaining a hardenable precursor comprising a first component and a plurality of inclusions containing a second component, wherein one of the first component or the second component is a low-surface-energy polymer, and the other is a hygroscopic material; applying mechanical shear and/or sonication to the hardenable precursor; disposing the hardenable precursor onto a substrate; and curing the hardenable precursor to form a transparent icephobic coating. The coating contains a hardened continuous matrix containing regions of the first component separated from regions of the second component on an average length scale of phase inhomogeneity from 10 nanometers to 10 microns, such as less than 1 micron, or less than 100 nanometers. The transparent icephobic coating may be characterized by a light transmittance of at least 50% at wavelengths from 400 nm to 800 nm, through a 100-micron coating.
