Abstract:
The present inventions relate to the formation of a thin polymer film on a substrate. Apparatus is described for transforming a solid polymer resist into an aerosol of small particles, electrostatically charging and depositing the particles onto a substrate, and flowing the particles into a continuous layer. Apparatus is further described for transforming solid resist into an aerosol of small particles by heating the resist to form a low viscosity liquid such as is compatible with nebulization and applying the techniques of jet or impact nebulization and aerosol particle sizing to form the aerosol. A method is further described of using ionized gas to confer charge onto the aerosol particles and using a progression of charging devices establish an electric field directing the flow of charged particles to the substrate. The progression of charging devices and associated apparatus results in high collection efficiency for the aerosol particles.
Abstract:
A method of making catheters is disclosed in which the wall of the catheter has a porous structure for carrying additional agents, such as therapeutic agents, diagnostic agents and/or device enhancements. The method includes applying a base polymer material and an inert material over the outer surface of a core, and curing or consolidating the base polymer material to form a catheter having a porous polymer layer with the inert material contained within the pores thereof. The inert material can be applied with the base polymer material or in a separate step after the base polymer material has been partially cured or consolidated to form the porous polymer layer. Additional agents can be mixed with the inert material before it is applied to the catheter, or can be applied to the porous polymer layer of the catheter in a separate step after the inert material is removed therefrom.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a fiber including electro-spinning onto a substrate polymer solutions from a plurality of jets to form a network of filaments, wherein at least one jet sprays onto the substrate a first chemical mixture including a carbon fiber precursor compound, and at least one other jet sprays onto the substrate a second chemical mixture comprising a sacrificial polymer and a precursor compound of a functional material; and processing the filaments on the substrate, thereby forming an arrangement of carbon fibers having the functional material deposited thereon.
Abstract:
A method for producing a condenser for a thermal power plant is provided. First, the production method includes fitting a condenser tube in a carrier for a condenser tube bundle of the condenser. Then, the fitted condenser tube is coated with a hydrophobic coating. Coating the fitted condenser tube includes positioning a spray mechanism on the carrier, spraying on the hydrophobic coating using a spray mechanism, and moving the spray mechanism during spraying at a uniform rate. In another aspect, a device is provided. Also, a condenser is provided in an aspect.

The disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for coating a medical device. The method includes providing an electrospinning apparatus and simultaneously electrospinning at least one solution onto a first surface and an opposing second surface. The apparatus comprises a first spinneret and a second spinneret. An energy source is electrically coupled to the first spinneret and the second spinneret. The first spinneret and second spinneret comprise a reservoir and an orifice fluidly coupled to the reservoir. The first spinneret orifice is located substantially opposite the second spinneret orifice.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for electrostatic charging of a container for an electrostatic coating operation includes a support member for supporting a container during an electrostatic coating operation with the support member comprising a non-metallic conductive material or electrically semiconductive portion that directly contacts a surface of the container. The electrically semiconductive portion comprises non-metallic, resistive or low conductivity material and is coupled to a source of electrical energy such that the container is electrostatically charged to an opposite polarity to offset or reduce electrostatic charge build up produced by the electrostatic coating operation.
Abstract:
A method for applying a thin coating to a flat side (front side) and edge surfaces of a two-dimensional formation of graphite foil, includes applying the coating material to the flat side (front side) to be coated by electrostatic powder spraying followed by a sintering cycle or melting cycle. During the spraying, the two-dimensional formation is electrically contacted on a limited area virtually in the middle of its rear side, facing away from the spraying direction, on a limited area at a distance of at least 5 mm from the edges. A method for heat dissipation in electronic equipment, is also provided.
