Abstract: A double-beam spectrophotometer which can be used for dual-wavelength measurement and provide two substantially equivalent beams and a third beam of a different wavelength which advances along the same path as one of the two beams and alternately therewith. The optical elements employed are so arranged that the beams have a sharply defined, very narrow cross sectional area at the chopper having a number of chopping teeth so that the chopping speed can be increased without decreasing the efficiency in the use of the energy of the output signal of the detector. The cells may be placed at different places most suitable for measurement depending upon the kind and/or concentration of the sample to be measured.

Abstract: Methods and systems for measuring one or more properties of a sample are disclosed. The methods and systems can include multiplexing measurements of signals associated with a plurality of wavelengths without adding any signal independent noise and without increasing the total measurement time. One or more levels of encoding, where, in some examples, a level of encoding can be nested within one or more other levels of encoding. Multiplexing can include wavelength, position, and detector state multiplexing. In some examples, SNR can be enhanced by grouping together one or more signals based on one or more properties including, but not limited to, signal intensity, drift properties, optical power detected, wavelength, location within one or more components, material properties of the light sources, and electrical power. In some examples, the system can be configured for optimizing the conditions of each group individually based on the properties of a given group.

Abstract: A method of interrogating an absorbing sample includes using a mode-locked laser mode-locked in both a clock-wise (CW) and a counter-clock wise (CCW) direction to generate first and second optical pulses having different repetition rates. One of the first and second optical pulses is directed in a CW direction and the other of the first and second optical pulses is directed in the CCW direction. The first optical pulses are transmitted through the absorbing sample to probe the absorbing sample while the second optical pulses are transmitted through the absorbing sample to act as a local oscillator. An interference pattern produced by interference between the first and second optical pulses is detected after traversing the absorbing sample.

Abstract: A glucose sensor measures glucose molecules in vivo through use of NDIR in which scattering noise is reduced and Absorption Interference Noise (AIN) is suppressed with a reflection technique. Electronics are used to provide an output of glucose concentration glucose in a liquid sampling matrix after it has been determined that a calibration curve is valid after signal processing is used to obtain average ratio values for reflected signal/reference channels and interference/reference channel obtained after a pulsed beam from signal, interference and reference sources is directed at an inclined angle to a normal of a spot of the liquid sampling matrix. The signal, interference and reference sources are each pulsed at a preselected frequency of at least N Hz which is sufficiently fast so that a given molecule of glucose or interfering molecule will not pass in and out of the liquid sampling matrix within the preselected frequency.

Abstract: The multispectral detection device comprises first and second photodetectors sensitive to two different wavelengths. The two photodetectors are connected to two integration capacitors of two different readout circuits. Two reset circuits are configured so as to initialise the two integration capacitors separately. A first synchronisation circuit is connected to the first readout circuit and to the synchronisation signal and clock signal generators. The first synchronisation circuit is configured in such a way as to define the frame by detection of a leading edge of the synchronisation signal, count the number of occurrences of a trailing edge of the clock signal, initiate or terminate a data acquisition phase when the number of occurrences of trailing edges is equal to a threshold value recorded in a register of the first synchronisation circuit.
