Abstract: A composition is provided that includes aliphatic urethane acrylate; a multifunctional crosslinking agent; photoinitiator; a chemical initiator system of a peroxide or azo group containing catalyst, and a cure promoter; and a particulate filler. The composition is amenable to rapid cure to a sandable condition as compared to conventional products. By adjusting the amount of particulate filler present, a product is provided that operates as a primer, a putty, or a filler. A method of vehicle body repair includes the application of an uncured layer of the composition to the vehicle body. The uncured layer is exposed to UV radiation to induce cure of the uncured layer to form a coating in a time of between 2 and 20 minutes even with an ultraviolet wavelength emitting light emitting diode (UV LED).

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of sealing, coating or/and aerodynamic smoothing of at least one connecting element that protrudes from a surface or/and for sealing, coating or/and aerodynamic smoothing of a surface at a gap or at an uneven connection site with a sulfur-containing SCOD sealing compound at at least one application site, especially on an aerospace component, with at least one nozzle element and with at least one irradiation unit, which is characterized in that i) a nozzle element contains a mixed sealing compound and is guided or/and mounted over the connecting element protruding from a surface, over the gap or/and over the uneven connection site, ii) the connecting element protruding from the surface, the gap or the uneven connection site is covered fully with sealing compound, the sealing compound forming a sealing compound cover essentially in the form of a sealing compound cap, a coating or/and a mound-shaped or bead-shaped elevation, iii) the nozzle element or at least a portion is raised if required from the surface having the sealing compound cover, and iv) the curing of the sealing compound is initiated with the aid of at least one irradiation unit by energy input and by release of a latent catalyst or is brought about by direct activation of at least one reaction component, such that the mixed sealing compound subsequently cures or/and cures further. The invention also relates to a corresponding apparatus, to the aerospace vehicle treated in this way and to the use of the method and the apparatus.

Abstract: A method of forming a digital embossing on a surface by bonding hard press particles to a carrier. A liquid binder pattern is applied on the carrier by a digital drop application head. Hard press particles are applied on the carrier and the binder pattern such that some hard press particles are bonded to the carrier by the liquid pattern and non-bonded press particles are removed. The carrier with the bonded hard press particles is pressed to the surface and an embossing is formed when the carrier with the hard press particles is removed.

Abstract: A method of treatment of outdoor equipment for reducing ice adhesion thereon, the outdoor equipment defining a substrate on which a layer of linkers is intended to be coupled, the linkers being bi-functional and including: a first reacting group able to couple in a stable way in environmental conditions with the substrate, and a second reacting group able to generate a covalent bond stable in environmental conditions with polysaccharides, the method includes the steps of: coupling the linkers on at least an area of the equipment to obtain a layer of linkers coupled stably in environmental conditions with the substrate; and making react some polysaccharides on the layer of linkers to bind them with a covalent bond stable in environmental conditions with the second reacting group of the linkers and forming a layer of polysaccharides on the layer of linkers.
