Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the hydrogenation of the levulinic acid to γ-valerolactone in a single step with a single Pt supported on hydrotalcite catalyst. The process provides conversion of γ-valerolactone over Pt supported hydrotalcite catalyst at room temperature (25° C.). The process provides a levulinic acid conversion of 34-100% with 20-50 bar hydrogen pressure to give γ-valerolactone selectivity up to 99%.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a method for preparing a hydroprocessing catalyst including supporting a carrier with one or more hydrogenation metal components selected from the group consisting of VIB, VIIB, and VIII group metals of the periodic table; drying and calcining the supported carrier having the hydrogenation metal components; supporting the supported carrier having the hydrogenation metal components with an organic compound, and drying and calcining the supported carrier having the hydrogenation metal components and the organic compound. The hydrogenation metal components and the organic compound are supported in the carrier. The organic compound is selected from the group consisting of methyl acetoacetate, ethyl acetoacetate and a mixture thereof. The hydrogenation metal components supported in the carrier is sulfide. An amount of the organic compound is 15 wt % to 90 wt % based on the total amount of the hydroprocessing catalyst.

Abstract: Disclosed is a supported catalyst for the preparation of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), a process for preparing a catalyst comprising an extruded alumina support, and a catalytic process for the manufacturing vinyl acetate using the supported catalyst. Specifically, it is shown that for activated palladium-gold VAM catalysts prepared using extruded alumina supports, enhanced performance is demonstrated with increased pore volume of the support, and the gas hourly space velocity (GHSV, hr−1), which was found to significantly increase the space time yield as GHSV increased as compared to the non-extruded alumina supported catalysts.

Abstract: A three-way catalyst is disclosed. The three-way catalyst comprises a silver-containing extruded zeolite substrate and a catalyst layer disposed on the silver-containing extruded zeolite substrate. The catalyst layer comprises a supported platinum group metal catalyst comprising one or more platinum group metals and one or more inorganic oxide carriers. The invention also includes an exhaust system comprising the three-way catalyst. The three-way catalyst results in improved hydrocarbon storage and conversion, in particular during the cold start period.

A catalytic metal containing at least Ni is supported on a composite oxide containing R, Zr, and oxygen, at a composition of not less than 10 mol % and not more than 90 mol % of R, not less than 10 mol % and not more than 90 mol % of Zr, and not less than 0 mol % and not more than 20 mol % of M (M: elements other than oxygen, R, and Zr), with respect to the total of the elements other than oxygen being 100 mol %, wherein the composite oxide has a specific surface area of 11 to 90 m2/g, and the largest peak in the wavelength range of 200 to 800 cm−1 of Raman spectrum with a full width at half maximum of 20 to 72 cm−1.
