Abstract:
A method for providing an alternative power source for a graphics card are disclosed. Specifically, one embodiment of the present invention sets forth a method, which includes the steps of laying a set of gold fingers on a printed circuit board according to an industrial standard bus interface, positioning a wire in a middle layer of the printed circuit board, attaching a first end of the wire to a specific gold finger, and attaching the alternative power source to a second end of the wire, wherein the second end of the wire is an electroplated contact protruded external to the printed circuit board.
Abstract:
A removable video module for a backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) contained within a chassis and having a timing and control board (TCON) with a board edge connector and an access opening in the chassis. The module preferably having a video input connection and means for generating a Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) video. The video module also preferably has a board edge connector adapted to connect with the board edge connector on the TCON, where the video module is adapted to fit through the access opening to connect with the TCON. Other embodiments may utilize a backplane where the video module and a power module are adapted to connect with the backplane and electrically communicate with the rest of the display. Outputs for either the video signal, power supply, or both may be provided so that a plurality of displays may be daisy-chained together.

Abstract:
A signal processing module can be manufactured from a plurality of composite substrate layers, each substrate layer includes elements of multiple individual processing modules. Surfaces of the layers are selectively metalicized to form signal processing elements when the substrate layers are fusion bonded in a stacked arrangement. Prior to bonding, the substrate layers are milled to form gaps located at regions between the processing modules. Prior to bonding, the leads are positioned such that they extend from signal coupling points on said metalicized surfaces into the gap regions. The substrate layers are then fusion bonded to each other such that the plurality of substrate layers form signal processing modules with leads that extend from an interior of the modules into the gap areas. The individual modules may then be separated by milling the substrate layers to de-panel the modules.
