Abstract:
A process of printing applies printing ink to the surface of a product of thermoplastic rubber compounds containing upwards of 95% mineral oil. The process uses ink compositions of resins, mineral oil, solvents, colorants, and additives. The process involves preparing a product from copolymer resins and other components, and blending an ink from copolymer resins and other components. Next, the process prints the desired multi-color image on the treated surface followed with a top coat on the surface of the substrate to protect the printed image. The top coat and ink stretch with the product so that the image remains intact. The process uses pad printing to print the image upon the surface of the product.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing coated can lids from aluminum strip, and is based on the finding that flexible, easily formable coatings having high abrasion resistance result from the use of water-based lacquers containing a copolymer or a copolymer mixture of at least one aliphatic, acyclic alkene with at least one α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid in water-dispersed form, and a curing system. In a preferred embodiment of the method, the application of a primer coating can be dispensed with entirely when water-soluble compounds of the elements Zr and/or Ti in the lacquer are used as the curing system.
Abstract:
[Object] There are provided a fluorocarbon resin composite having improved abrasion resistance while nonadhesiveness, which is a feature of a fluorocarbon resin, is maintained, cookware, and a roller and a belt for use in office automation equipment.[Solving Means] A fluorocarbon resin composite includes a fluorocarbon resin layer on a base, in which a fluorocarbon resin constituting the fluorocarbon resin layer is crosslinked by electron beam irradiation, and the base has a desired shape obtained by machining. The fluorocarbon resin is composed of a tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer, polytetrafluoroethylene, or a mixture of the tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer and polytetrafluoroethylene. A fluorocarbon resin composite, cookware, and a roller and a belt for use in office automation equipment are each produced by applying an uncrosslinked fluorocarbon resin on a base, subjecting the fluorocarbon resin to electron beam irradiation in a low-oxygen atmosphere to crosslink the fluorocarbon resin while the temperature of the fluorocarbon resin is maintained at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the fluorocarbon resin, and machining the base into a desired shape. There is also provided methods for producing them.

Abstract:
A coated article comprising a stainless steel base having an etched surface and having on the etched surface a coated layer. The coating layer may comprise a fluororesin and can be provided: after sensitizing the stainless steel base through heating, treating with an acid, subjecting to etching, and subjecting to a solution treatment; after immersing in an aqueous acid solution or an aqueous ferric chloride solution to cause the base to be dissolved to such an extent that the gloss of the surface disappears; after uniformly abrading the surface of the base through buffing or blasting to the weight corresponding to a thickness of 1.0 .mu.m or more of the base, immersing in an aqueous acid solution or an aqueous ferric chloride solution to cause the base to be dissolved to such an extent that the gloss of the surface disappears, and subjecting to etching; or after subjecting to electrolytic etching at 15.degree. C. or less.
Abstract:
New composite-coated flat-rolled steel product and new methods of manufacture in which low-carbon steel, as received in cold-reduced continuous strip form is prepared for plating, a corrosion-prevention plating is applied, and a selected polymeric coating with lubricant is applied as the finish surface. The resulting composite-coated steel substrate is cold-rolled to decrease the composite-coated steel substrate gage. Selection of cold rolling steps, with non-use or selected use of stress-relief type of heat treatment before and/or after an initial cold-rolling of the steel substrate as received prior to surface preparation, provides for selective tin mill manufacture of composite-coated steel of various weights per unit area, for example, in the range of about 35 to about 100 lb/bb, produced by cold rolling of the composite-coated flat-rolled steel.
Abstract:
A process for the production of coated or lacquered metal containers for receiving foods is described, in which the internal coating takes place by first applying a vinylchloride-based organosol followed by baking for 8 to 15 minutes at 175.degree. to 225.degree. C. Then an epoxy-phenol lacquer is applied and also baked for 8 to 15 minutes at 175.degree. to 225.degree. C. The metal sheet is then shaped to the desired container. The shaping preferably takes place by deep drawing and especially DRD deep drawing. The double coating results in improved properties of the internal coating and has the particular advantage that colorings, which are set free from coloring delivering filled products, are not absorbed so that there is no staining when emptying the container.
Abstract:
A plastic bottle has as a wall-forming component a layer of a copolymer consisting essentially of 99 to 70% by weight of vinylidene cloride and 1 to 40% by weight of at least one acrylic or methacrylic monomer and further including up to 100 parts by weight of at least one member selected from other ethylenically unsaturated monomers per 100 parts by weight of the total amount of the first two monomers, the copolymer having an oxygen permeability constant of less than 9.times.10.sup.-14 cc.multidot.cm/cm.sup.2 .multidot.sec.multidot.cmHg as measured at a temperature of 20.degree. C. and a relative humidity of 100% and a water vapor permeability constant of less than 3.times.10.sup.-3 g.multidot.cm/m.sup.2 .multidot.day as determined according to the method of JIS Z-0208.This plastic bottle is obtained by casting an aqueous latex or the like of the above-mentioned copolymer in a bottle mold and drying the cast latex. This aqueous latex may be formed as a coating layer on a preformed plastic bottle. In this plastic bottle, the humidity dependency of the oxygen barrier property is prominently reduced.
