Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A vinyl compound shown by the formula I(R1 is H or CH3). EXAMPLE:N-Ethoxyethylacrylamide. USE:A raw material monomer for a hydrophilic-hydrophobic thermoplastic high polymer compound useful as a sunproofing material, temperature sensor, tool, interior, printing agent, display, separating membrane, mechanochemical element material, etc., showing different transition temperatures. A colorless, transparent liquid, soluble in a solvent such as water, methanol, dimethylformamide, acetone, dioxane, etc., subjected to phase separation h-hexane or n-heptane. A prepared polymer is dissolved in water in a low-temperature range and insoluble in water in a high-temperature range. PREPARATION:For example, (meth)acrylic acid chloride shown by the formula II is reacted with 2-ethoxyethylamine shown by the formula III and triethylamine shown by the formula IV preferably at 0-10 deg.C, to give a compound shown by the formula I.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound having high stability, soluble in organic solvent and useful as a raw material of catalyst, easily in the form of precipitate, by reacting an anion complex of a noble metal such as silver, gold, etc., with a water-soluble cationic surfactant in an aqueous medium. CONSTITUTION:A noble metal anion complex containing a noble metal selected from silver, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, gold, iridium and platinum is made to react with a water-soluble cationic surfactant (preferably a quaternary ammonium salt such as hexyltrimethylammonium bromide) in an aqueous medium usually at room temperature, and the produced precipitate is recovered by conventional method to obtain the objective product. The raw material containing a noble metal anion complex is e.g. potassium dicyanoargentate. The molar ratio of the noble metal compound to the cationic surfactant is preferably 1:1 or 1:2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To uniformly and firmly form a metallic film only on the necessary part of a material by plating with ease by sticking palladium organosol contg. an org. solvent to the material to be plated, evaporating the solvent and carrying out chemical plating. CONSTITUTION:Palladium organosol contg. an org. solvent as a dispersion medium is stuck to a material to be plated such as paper, nonwoven fabric, glass, ceramics, a polymer, a metal or a metallic oxide by dipping, coating or other method. The org. solvent is evaporated to bond uniformly and firmly palladium colloid consisting of fine and uniform particles. Chemical plating is then carried out by a conventional method using the palladium colloid as a catalyst. Only the necessary part of the material is placed uniformly and firmly with the metal such as Ni, Co or Cu.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermally reversible hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer having a transition temperature different from that of a conventional thermally reversible polyacrylamide derivative and useful for a light screen for a greenhouse or a chemical laboratory, a temperature sensor, a display, etc., by radical- polymerizing a specified vinyl compound. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl compound of formula I (wherein R1 is H or methyl and R2 is a lower alkyl) is radical-polymerized to obtain a thermally reversible hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer of formula II (wherein R1 and R2 are as defined above). This polymer has such a thermal reversibility of high- temperature hydrophobicity type that it can dissolve in water in a low- temperature range and can not dissolve in water in a high-temperature range. Although the transition temperature of the polymer varies with polymerization conditions, for example, that of poly(N-methoxypropylacrylamide) is 44-48 deg.C in a 1wt%-aqueous solution. Said polymerization is carried out preferably by a solution polymerization process. It is preferable that the degree of polymerization is 0.01-6.0 in terms of an intrinsic viscosity [eta] (as measured in a methanol solution at 30 deg.C).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermally reversible hydrophilic/hydrophobic polymeric compound which has a prescribed mol.wt. and is suitable as a light shielding substance for a green house, by subjecting N-1-methyl-2-methoxyethyl(meth) acrylamide to radical polymerization. CONSTITUTION:The aimed thermally reversible hydrophilic/hydrophobic polymeric compound which comprises repeating units of formula II and has a mol.wt. corresponding to a limited viscosity number of 0.01-6 in a tetrahydrofuran solution at 27 deg.C is produced by subjecting a vinyl compound of formula I (wherein R is H or methyl) to radical polymerization. Although this compound is hydrophilic at ordinary temperatures, it becomes insoluble in water reversibly by heating. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting, for example, (meth)acryloyl chloride with 2-amino-1-methoxypropane and triethylamine in a solvent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To safely and economically detect the protein immobilized on a membrane with high sensitivity, by adsorbing palladium colloid by protein and applying the electroless plating of a base metal to said protein to sensitize the same. CONSTITUTION:In detecting the protein immobilized on a membrane, this membrane is treated with palladium colloid stabilized with a nonionic surfactant. As the membrane used in the immobilization of protein to be detected, any one commonly used in a gold colloid method is used. As a method for immobilizing protein to be inspected on the membrane, for example, an electroblotting method is used. Subsequently, the electroless plating of a base metal is further applied to the membrane thus treated to sensitize the protein. This electroless plating is a catalytic chemical plating utilizing the catalytic activity of palladium and a metal is selectively precipitated on a metal surface having catalytic action. By applying immersion treatment to the treated membrane in an electroless plating liquid, the base metal is precipitated on palladium colloidal particles from said plating liquid and, therefore, protein can be detected with high sensitivity.

CONSTITUTION:N-Isopropylacrylamide is dissolved in a benzene solvent to form a solution of a concentration of 1-80wt% and radical-polymerized at 5-40 deg.C, preferably, 20-30 deg.C in the presence of, optionally, 0.001-5wt%, based on the vinyl compound, polymerization initiator (e.g., azobisisobutyronitrile) to give the title polymer which is poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) having an intrinsic viscosity >=1.00 (in tetrahydrofuran at 27 deg.C). This polymer is a thermoreversibly hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer which is insolubilized in water when warmed and is useful for light-screening bodies, temperature sensors, adsorbents, toys, interiors, separative membranes, etc.

Nitrogen, hydrogen, argon, etc., are introduced at 10 -10Torr, 0.1-300W power is impressed by a high-frequency oscillator to generate plasma, and the hydrophobic membrane is irradiated with the plasma for 1-60sec. Then the gaseous hydrophilic monomer is supplied under the absence of plasma, and the graft polymerization is carried out. The graft polymerization is carried out at 0-80 deg.C and 10 -10 Torr, and finished in 10sec-60min. The rate of the graft polymerization is preferably controlled to 2-30%.
