Abstract: La invencion se refiere a los polimeros constituidos de una cadena principal de acido poli(met)acrilico en la cual, en relacion con la cadena principal, de 0 a 30% en peso de las unidades basicas de acido (met)acrilico puede ser sustituido por las unidades basicas de acido (anhidrido) maleico, modulos basicos de acido fumarico o mezclas de estos; y 0 a 10% en peso de las unidades basicas de acido (met)acrilico pueden ser sustituidas por otras unidades basicas etilenicas copolimerizables. Los polimeros tambien estan constituidos de cadenas laterales en forma de alquil de C1-30)polialquil (de C2-4) glicoles que unidos a la cadena principal por medio de grupos ester y que tienen un peso molecular promedio de 250 a 10,000. La cadena principal y las cadenas laterales constituyen de 1 a 19% en peso y de 81 a 99% en peso del polimero, respectivamente. La relacion y el peso molecular promedio de las cadenas laterales se eligen en tal forma que el polimero contenga grupos carboxilo libres. Estos polimeros se utilizan como agentes dispersantes que pueden ser controlados para detergentes o constituyentes de estos.

Abstract: Dirt-removing polyesters are disclosed, obtained by polycondensation of given amounts of at least one di- or higher valued carboxylic acid, or the C1-C4 alkyl ester thereof, at least one divalent alcohol, such as ethylene glycol and/or propylene glycol, a polyalkylene glycol, an alkoxylation product of a long chain alcohol and at least one polyol such as glycerine, with removal by distillation of water and volatile alcohols until a hydroxy number of less than 65 is obtained. The polyesters are suitable for use as adjuncts for washing or cleaning agents and for improving the anti-static and slip properties of textiles.

Abstract: Hydrophilic open-celled resilient foams containing melamine-formaldehyde resins, characterized by a droplet absorption rate of less than 5 seconds and an EU standard EN ISO 14184-1 formaldehyde emission of less than 100 mg of formaldehyde/kg of foam, and obtainable by(a) heating an aqueous solution or dispersion each containing at least a melamine-formaldehyde precondensate, an emulsifier, a blowing agent and a curing agent to form a foam and crosslink the precondensate,(b) then conditioning the foam at from 120 to 300° C. for from 1 to 180 minutes to remove volatiles, and(c) treating the foam during the conditioning or thereafter with at least one hydrophilicizer and/or with ozone, a corona discharge or a plasma,are useful in hygiene articles to acquire, distribute and immobilize body fluids.
