    Abstract: The invention concerns a method of producing multi-phase block copolymers, the method being characterized in that, in the gas phase, in the presence of a metalocene catalyst system at temperatures of -50 to +300 DEG C and pressures of 1 to 1000 bar: a) as a first step, 45 to 95 % by wt. of a polymer matrix (A) comprising an alk-1-ene homopolymer or copolymer with a comonomer content of up to 10 % by wt. relative to the matrix (A) is produced and b) as a second step, in the presence of the matrix (A) obtained in step (a), b1) o.5 to 97 % by wt. of at least one alk-1-ene having at least 3 C-atoms and b2) 3 to 99.5 % by wt. of ethylene is reacted to give 5 to 55 % by wt. of a copolymer phase (B).

    Abstract: Ziegler-Natta type catalyst system (ZNC), containing (a) a titanium-based solid component containing compounds of Ti and magnesium, a halogen, an inorganic oxide support (IOS) and a carboxylate ester as electron donor, (b) an aluminium compound and (c) optionally another electron donor, in which the oxide (IOS) has a pH of 1-6, an average particle diameter of 5-200 microns and an average primary particle diameter of 1-20 mu m, and contains pores or channels with an average diameter of 0.1-20 mu m in amounts of 5-30 vol%. Also claimed is (i) a process for the production of ZNC by interacting components (a), (b) and (c) together at 0-150 degrees C and 1-100 bar; (ii) a process for the production of polymers of 2-20C alk-1-enes by polymerisation of the alkene (preferably propylene) and optionally other comonomers at 20-150 degrees C and 1-100 bar in presence of (ZNC); (iii) polymers of propylene obtained by this process.

    Abstract: Statistical propylene copolymers with 2-10C alk-1-ene comonomer (alkene) units are claimed, obtained by polymerisation of propylene and alkene at 50-100 degrees C and 15-40 bar with a mean residence time of 0.5-5 hrs., in presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst with: (a) a titanium-containing solid component containing a magnesium compound, a halogen, a silica gel support and a carboxylate ester as electron donor; plus (b) an aluminium compound; and (c) another electron donor as cocatalysts. The silica gel support has an average particle diameter of 5-200 mu m and an average primary particle diameter of 1-10 mu m, and contains 5-20 vol% of pores or channels with an average diameter of 1-10 mu m. Also claimed is a process for the production of propylene copolymers.
