Abstract: Slip-resistant laces for articles of dress, such as various types of footwear and clothing, and methods of making the same are provided. The slip-resistant laces include a first engagement portion and a second engagement portion. A silicone composition is applied to the first engagement portion and the second engagement portion by spraying the silicone composition from an aerosol can. A slip-resistant knot is formed by engaging the first engagement portion having the silicone composition with the second engagement portion having the silicone composition.

Abstract: An antifoam granule includes a carrier and an antifoam compound deposited on the carrier. The antifoam granule is formed using a method that includes providing an emulsion and contacting the emulsion with a carrier to deposit the antifoam compound on the carrier and form the antifoam granule. The emulsion includes an oil phase, an aqueous phase, and a silicone polyether. The oil phase includes an antifoam compound. The antifoam compound includes a hydrophobic fluid and a hydrophobic filler dispersed in the hydrophobic fluid. The aqueous phase includes a binder and water. The emulsion is formed using a method that includes combining the oil phase, the aqueous phase, and the silicone polyether to form the emulsion. The antifoam granule is also utilized in a method of facilitating rinsing of a detergent from a substrate that includes applying the detergent, including the antifoam granule, to the substrate and rinsing the substrate.

Abstract: A method for creating a carbon nanotube heater assembly includes creating a carbon nanotube heater with varying resistances and attaching the carbon nanotube heater to both carrier and encapsulating materials. Creating the carbon nanotube heater with varying resistances is accomplished by applying a carbon nanotube mixture to a substrate, adjusting the thickness or width of the carbon nanotube mixture, and drying the nanotube mixture.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of improving burnish resistance of substrates comprising: (1) applying to at least a portion of the substrate a curable film-forming composition comprising: (a) a polymeric binder comprising at least one polymeric resin having reactive functional groups; (b) a curing agent containing functional groups that are reactive with the reactive functional groups of (a); and (c) silica particles that have been functionalized on their surfaces with an amino silane so as to impart the surfaces with primary amino functional groups; and (2) (a) heating the coated substrate to a temperature and for a time sufficient to cure the curable film-forming composition or (b) allowing a time sufficient to cure the curable film-forming composition under ambient conditions. The present invention is further directed to solventborne, curable film-forming compositions comprising the components (a) (b) and (c) above.

Abstract: A coating composition for application to a component or structure has cellulose acetate, a plasticizer with an antioxidant, a corrosion inhibitor with an antioxidant, a vegetable oil, and a stabilizer. The plasticizer is linseed oil. The corrosion inhibitor is canola oil. The vegetable oil is epoxidized soybean oil. The stabilizer is titanium dioxide. These components are intimately mixed together so as to form a solid mixture. The solid mixture is converted into a solid state and applied to the component or structure. The liquid state is then dried on the component or structure for a period of time.
