Abstract:
The present disclosure provides an optical system suitable for detecting muzzle flashes in a scene, the optical system comprising: a first optical module customized for detecting flashes at short range of the optical system by analyzing irradiance received on a first infrared sensor; a second optical module customized for detecting flashes at long range of the optical system by analyzing irradiance received on a second infrared sensor; wherein: the first and second optical modules are configured to share a common field of view and to operate independently of each other.
Abstract:
A measured distance is received from a distance sensor, where the measured distance is indicative of a distance between a color sensor and a substrate. Using the measured distance, a location of a given projection of projections of a substrate support is determined. A color of a color patch on the substrate at the determined location of the given projection is determined.
Abstract:
A probe head for a diagnostic instrument, the probe head comprising; a transmission optical fiber, a plurality of collection optical fibers, and a lens to transmit light from the transmission optical fiber to a test site, wherein the ends of the collection optical fibers are bevelled.
Abstract:
A gas measurement system for measuring the concentration of gaseous and/or vaporous components of a gas mixture by means of a color change of at least one reaction substance on a reaction support unit, which is arranged in at least two light permeable channels in such a manner that the color change on the reaction substance can be detected at low expense on a large number of separate positions. The detecting unit which detects the color change can be designed as a digital camera with an electronic image converter or image sensor, and an imaging optics system (e.g., a lens system). Related systems, methods, apparatus, and articles are also described.
Abstract:
A system and method for computer automated optimal lateral alignment of a spectrophotometer over a region of consistent color on a moving media or web for maintaining consistent color and or tonal qualities of a color application production process. The system consisting of a computer operated lateral traverse mechanism affixed to the press or color application equipment that is able to move the sensor laterally in small increments across the band of the color patches on the moving web or media, marking the lateral position each time it makes a light measurement, and therefrom calculating the optimal lateral alignment or position of the sensor for maintaining consistent color or density control during the color application process.
Abstract:

The hyperspectral camera may include an Offner spectrometer. The mobile display module may be adapted to receive data from the hyperspectral camera and may include an internal camera. The mobile display module may include a cell phone or a tablet computer. The mobile display module may be integrally attached to the hyperspectral camera. The integral attachment may include a data link or USB connection. The length of the data link or USB connection may be less than 6 inches and the imager may weigh less than one pound. The imager may include a battery module or a scanning optical module.
Abstract:
Systems and tools for detecting the presence of a substance of interest is presented. The system utilizes a hyperspectral imaging camera to obtain images of an enclosed area, such as a vehicle. Vehicles can include cars, trucks, trains, or boats. The system also includes a processor and storage device. The processor receives the images taken by the hyperspectral imaging camera. Next, the processor determines whether such images contain certain substances. These substances include alcohol, carbon monoxide, illegal substances, and hazardous chemicals. The storage device is electrically coupled to the processor, and is used to store certain data information such as detection events, substance detected, and the time of detection. Such information can be sent over the internet, or streamed live to a laptop at a remote location. The present embodiment can be used by law enforcement to monitor vehicles of interest, and become an important part of public safety.
Abstract:
An apparatus for placement on or in a body of water for hyperspectral imaging of material in the water comprises an artificial light source and a hyperspectral imager. These are arranged so that in use light exits the apparatus beneath the surface of the water and is reflected by said material before re-entering the apparatus beneath the surface of the water and entering the hyperspectral imager. The hyperspectral imager is adapted to produce hyperspectral image data having at least two spatial dimensions.
Abstract:
A small form-factor gimbal system that provides for stabilization of payload assets in a manner that provides improved stabilization capability. Such a small form-factor gimbal system provides for precision payload asset steering functionality through integration of an inertially stabilized two-axis gimbal in combination with a beam stabilization mechanism (BSM). In a preferred embodiment, such a small form-factor gimbal system has a gimbal diameter of about 5″ or less and employs a laser assembly having a Coudé path arrangement in which the laser beam passes from the azimuth subassembly to the elevation subassembly along the elevation subassembly rotational axis.
