Abstract: Methods and apparatus for performing repair operations using an unmanned aerial vehicle. The methods are enabled by equipping the UAV with tools for rapidly repairing a large structure or object (e.g., an aircraft or a wind turbine blade) that is not easily accessible to maintenance personnel. In accordance with various embodiments disclosed below, the unmanned aerial vehicle may be equipped with an easily attachable/removable module that includes an additive repair tool. The additive repair tool is configured to add material to a body of material. For example, the additive repair tool may be configured to apply a sealant or other coating material in liquid form to a damage site on a surface of a structure or object (e.g., by spraying liquid or launching liquid-filled capsules onto the surface). In alternative embodiments, the additive repair tool is configured to adhere a tape to the damage site.

Abstract: Porous solid members are provided that include, disposed on at least a portion of the internal surfaces of a plurality of channels thereof, a plurality of superhydrophobic particles. These particles inhibit ingress of water or other aqueous fluids into the internal spaces of the porous solid member, reducing the occurrence of corrosion, biological growth, or other unwanted effects of fluids present in the internal spaces. The porous solid member could be fabricated using 3D printing methods, e.g., the member could be a 3D printed aluminum or other metal(s). The plurality of superhydrophobic particles can be disposed on the internal surfaces of the channels within the porous solid member via a number of processes, e.g., by delivering the particles into the channels while disposed in a payload fluid that later evaporates.

Abstract: Novel, lubricious coatings for medical devices are disclosed. The coatings provide improved lubricity and durability and are readily applied in coating processes a low temperatures that do not deform the device. The present invention is also directed to a novel platinum catalyst for use in such coatings. The catalyst provides for rapid curing, while inhibiting cross-linking at ambient temperatures, thereby improving the production pot life of the coatings.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying a faux wood grain finish to plastic architectural plastic boards. The method employs a climate-controlled area for denibbing of boards to prepare a surface and a sprayer to achieve a desired depth of color. A wiper spreads the sprayed on material to form a faux grain finish which may include faux wood knots. The boards are directed through a combination infrared and convection oven having independent curing zones providing specific drying profiles. Once cured, the boards are cooled with forced air cool down fans and transferred into a climate-controlled area for applying a topcoat. The topcoat board is passed through an oven set to a defined temperature for curing and cooled down with forced air cool down fans before packaging and shipping.

Abstract: A manufacturing method of an indium tin oxide (ITO) thin film based on a solution method is disclosed. The manufacturing method includes: a step of providing an array substrate; a step of obtaining a dispersion solution by mixing ITO grains, an organic small molecule phase transfer agent, and an N-chlorosuccinimide (NCs) solution; a step of obtaining uniformly assembled ITO grains by coating the dispersion solution onto a passivation layer and baking to remove the organic small molecule phase transfer agent; and a step of obtaining the ITO thin film by annealing at an inert atmosphere to refine the ITO grains.

Abstract: A coated film having good characteristics is manufactured. A method for manufacturing the coated film includes: (a) a step of applying a coating liquid 20a to a first surface of a base material 1 unwound from an unwinding unit UW; (b) a step of forming a coating layer 3b on the first surface of the base material 1 by drying the coating liquid (coating film 3a) on the base material 1; and (c) a step of winding the base material 1 on which the coating layer 3b has been formed in a winding unit WD. Also, the base material 1 is continuously arranged from the unwinding unit UW to the winding unit WD, tension cut of the base material 1 is performed by a first suction roll SR after the base material 1 is taken out from the unwinding unit UW and before the step (b), and tension cut of the base material 1 on which the coating layer 3b has been formed is performed by a second suction roll SR before the step (c).
