Abstract: Methods and systems for coating metal substrates are provided. The methods and systems include sequential application of low flow and high flow powder coatings followed by a single heating step to provide a cured coating. The methods and systems include a marker that allows coating uniformity to be monitored and assessed during application. The described methods provide coatings with optimal surface smoothness and edge coverage.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of patterning a substrate with graphene-based or other electroactive-material-based solution that includes solid-phase particles as hard templates, reducing the solution, and processing the reduced solution to expose the particles. The exposed hard template particles are removed to leave a three-dimensional (3D) porous architecture that can be beneficially used for a variety of applications, including but not limited to bio sensors and supercapacitors. In one example, the exposure is by etching with a CO2 laser. The method can be practiced with scalable MEMS fabrication technologies.

Abstract: A method for preparing photoactive perovskite materials. The method comprises the steps of: introducing a lead halide and a first solvent to a first vessel and contacting the lead halide with the first solvent to dissolve the lead halide to form a lead halide solution, introducing a Group 1 metal halide a second solvent into a second vessel and contacting the Group 1 metal halide with the second solvent to dissolve the Group 1 metal halide to form a Group 1 metal halide solution, and contacting the lead halide solution with the Group 1 metal halide solution to form a thin-film precursor ink. The method further comprises depositing the thin-film precursor ink onto a substrate, drying the thin-film precursor ink to form a thin film, annealing the thin film; and rinsing the thin film with a salt solution.

Abstract: Coating compositions are provided that eject droplets of condensed fluid from a surface. The coatings include a nanostructured coating layer and in some embodiments, also include a hydrophobic layer deposited thereon. The coating materials eject droplets from the surface in the presence of non-condensing gases such as air and may be deployed under conditions of supersaturation of the condensed fluid to be ejected. A heat exchanger design utilizing the coating is described herein.

Abstract: Provided is a preparation method for a double-layer working medium target tape with a plasma-enhanced interfacial bonding force for a micro laser thruster. Aiming at the problem that in an existing micro laser thruster, when a working medium is ablated by a laser beam, due to a weak interlayer interfacial bonding force between a transparent film substrate and the coating working medium, sputtering or bulging occurs, which remarkably reduces propulsive performance, a method for treating a surface of a transparent film substrate with a low-temperature plasma is used to increase surface energy of a film and an adhesive force of a working medium layer on a surface of the film, thereby enhancing the interlayer interfacial bonding force. According to the method in the present disclosure, the transparent film substrate is treated with the low-temperature plasma.

Abstract: Provided are processes and compositions for capturing a material of interest such as a biological, chemical, or other toxic agent on or from a surface. A method includes applying a liquid polymeric coating to a surface having a material of interest deposited thereon, encapsulating the material of interest with the composition, curing or otherwise solidifying the composition to form a polymeric coating on the surface, and optionally peeling the coating from the surface. The peeling may remove a portion or all of the material of interest from the surface. Also provided are devices that may be used in the processes provided herein.
