Abstract: The present disclosure describes a strategy to create self-healing, slippery self-lubricating polymers. Lubricating liquids with affinities to polymers can be utilized to get absorbed within the polymer and form a lubricant layer (of the lubricating liquid) on the polymer. The lubricant layer can repel a wide range of materials, including simple and complex fluids (water, hydrocarbons, crude oil and bodily fluids), restore liquid-repellency after physical damage, and resist ice, microorganisms and insects adhesion. Some exemplary applications where self-lubricating polymers will be useful include energy-efficient, friction-reduction fluid handling and transportation, medical devices, anti-icing, optical sensing, and as self-cleaning, and anti-fouling materials operating in extreme environments.

Abstract: Multi-part and one-part dry erase compositions are disclosed herein, including methods of using such compositions to form low/zero volatile organic compound (VOC) dry erasable coatings. The multi-part dry erase composition comprises a mixture of a first part and a second part, wherein the first part comprises a curable epoxy resin, such as an aromatic epoxide with diglycidyl epoxy functionality, and the second part comprises an amine curing agent, such as cycloaliphatic polyamine. The one-part compositions comprise monomers, oligomers, and polymers of an aliphatic or aromatic isocyanate, such as a diisocyanate, and an amine curing agent, such as morpholine and derivatives thereof. The dry erase compositions have a VOC content of less than about 25 g/L. Dry erasable coatings also include the abilities to dry erase additional markings in addition to dry erase markers, to include, but not limited to, regular marker, permanent marker, pen, highlighter, crayon, and spray paints. The dry erasable coatings can also withstand wet erasing, cleaning, and deep cleaning, with more aggressive cleaning chemicals like acetone, xylene, and Goof-Off brand aerosol cleaner while still maintaining its dry erasable features.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a low friction member having seaweed-type nanotubes, the nanotubes which protrude like seaweed on the surface of a base material being concentrated in the moving direction of a sliding member, thereby improving the fluidity of a liquid lubricant, thus enabling the effective reduction of surface friction.Such present invention comprises: a base material which has a plurality of dimples formed on the surface thereof so as to reduce friction occurring due to the surface contact of a sliding member; a fixing material which is filled inside the dimples; nanotubes which are buried in the fixing material and protrude to the outside by means of the surface processing of the fixing material; and a liquid lubricant which is coated on the surface of the base material, wherein, as the protruding nanotubes become concentrated in the moving direction of the sliding member, the fluidity of the liquid lubricant is improved, thereby enabling the effective reduction of surface friction.

Abstract: A hydraulic pump, in particular an adjustable axial piston pump, has at least one piston (22) movable in a reciprocating manner in a longitudinal direction within a pump housing during operation of the hydraulic pump. The piston (22) has a link head (24), a piston top (54) opposite the link head (24), and at least one hollow chamber (60) surrounded at least partially by a piston housing (62) that substantially or completely terminates each hollow chamber (60) towards the outside. Abstract: Provided herein are the polymers shown below. The value n is a positive integer. R1 is an organic group, and each R2 is H or a chemisorbed group, with at least one R2 being a chemisorbed group. The polymer may be a nanostructured film. Also provided herein is a method of: converting a di-p-xylylene paracyclophane dimer to a reactive vapor of monomers; depositing the reactive vapor onto a substrate held at an angle relative to the vapor flux to form nanostructured poly(p-xylylene) film; reacting the film with an agent to form hydrogen atoms that are reactive with a precursor of a chemisorbed group, if the film does not contain the hydrogen atoms; and reacting the hydrogen atoms with the precursor. Also provided herein is a device having a nanostructured poly(p-xylylene) film on a pivotable substrate. The film has directional hydrophobic or oleophobic properties and directional adhesive properties.
