Abstract: A valve train assembly having a valve train carrier including a body having a cartridge cavity formed in the body, a hydraulic lash adjuster adjustment (HLA) assembly, and a cartridge removably disposed in the cartridge cavity. The cartridge includes a main body defining an inner bore, wherein the HLA assembly is disposed in the inner bore, and the cartridge is sized and shaped for insertion into the cartridge cavity formed in an underside of the valve train carrier. The cartridge is configured to have a valve train lash set prior to insertion into the cartridge cavity. A rocker arm assembly includes a body configured to engage the hydraulic lash adjustment (HLA) assembly, an end having a socket formed therein, and an e-foot extending through the socket and coupled to the end, the e-foot configured to maintain substantially flat contact with a top surface of an engine valve.

Abstract: A variable valve mechanism of an internal combustion engine includes a plurality of swing members and a variable device that displaces a control shaft to displace a plurality of slider gears of the swing members at a time, thereby changing valve lifts of the plurality of swing members at a time by meshing of helical splines. The swing members include a first swing member for a predetermined cylinder of a plurality of cylinders and a second swing member for a cylinder other than the predetermined cylinder, and a helix angle of the helical splines varies between the first and the second swing members. The variable device displaces the control shaft to a predetermined normal position to perform a normal operation, and displaces the control shaft to a predetermined cylinder cutoff position to perform a cylinder cutoff operation in which the second swing member does not drive a valve.

Abstract: A valve train may include a camshaft, a cam follower, and first and second cams mounted axially adjacent in a torque-proof manner on the camshaft. The valve train may also include an adjustment arrangement having adjustable first and second mechanical engagement elements, which may each cooperate with at least one slide guide arranged on the camshaft. The valve train may further include a control shaft or control slide forming a stop for the first and second engagement elements and adjusting the first and second engagement elements into respective switching positions. The cam follower may be drivingly connected with the first and second cams in first and second positions, respectively. The first and second engagement elements may each be adjustable between respective basic positions, in which no contact exists with the associated slide guide, and the respective switching positions, in which the respective engagement element cooperates with the associated slide guide.

Abstract: Provided is a V engine which uses common cylinder heads, and permits favorable arrangement of oil passages so as to accommodate various oil regulating features that are required to operate valve property varying mechanisms. Each end of each cylinder head is formed with a plurality of distribution oil passages opening out at an upper surface of the cylinder head for supplying oil pressure from a main gallery to a valve actuating mechanism. A pair of oil passage connecting members internally defining mutually different connecting oil passages are attached to the upper surfaces of the corresponding end parts of the respective cylinder heads.

Abstract: A rocker base is disclosed for use with a valve actuation system. The rocker base may have a housing with a top, a bottom, side walls connecting the top to the bottom, and end walls disposed between the side walls. The rocker base may also have rocker arm supports located inside the housing and integrally formed with the side walls, and an injector spring pad extending from one of the end walls toward a center of the housing. The rocker base may further have a rib connecting the injector spring pad to one of the rocker arm supports.

Abstract: In a hydraulic compensation element for the valve train of an internal combustion engine, with a circular cylindrical housing (32) that has, in its bore (35), an axially movable pressure piston (36) with a reservoir (37) for oil as a hydraulic medium, a sleeve-like deflection element for oil is arranged in the interior of the pressure piston (36). The oil can be introduced through a radial feed hole of the housing (32), a rising channel (42), and an end-side opening (46) of the deflection element into the reservoir (37) of the pressure piston (36). The deflection element is constructed as a circular cylindrical inner sleeve (40) that has, on one axial end, an oversize dimension relative to the inner diameter of the pressure piston (36), and the inner sleeve (40) is fixed in the pressure piston (36) with a positive and non-positive fit connection.
