Abstract:
An emulsion for preparing a low-conductivity surface for powder coating, the emulsion including an emulsified organofunctional silane solution. A pre-powder coating emulsion provides a surface with conductivity. A non-conductive object having applied to an exterior surface of the object the emulsion including an emulsified organofunctional silane solution.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for applying paint to a scale vehicle, comprising applying an electro-conductive layer over at least a portion of a plastic vehicle body of the scale vehicle, charging said electro-conductive layer, oppositely charging a paint, and applying said paint to said body.

Abstract:
The surface of a continuous web, the fibrous portion of which consists of papermaking fibres, is coated with a coating powder. The web is allowed to move between electrodes, which are in different potentials. A coating powder of inorganic material and polymeric binder material is applied on the surface of the web by utilizing the difference in the electric potential. The coated surface of the web is then finished. The coating powder comprises 10.1-99.5 wt.-% of inorganic material. A dry surface treated sheet material is thus formed.
Abstract:
A method of applying a powder coating to a medium density fiberboard (MDF) or particleboard door includes attaching a first hanger to the door, providing an electrical source to the door through the first hanger, and conveying the door, via the first hanger, into a coating booth. The door is then powder-coated in the coating booth while being electrostatically charged. The powder-coated door is then cured to cause the powder to adhere to the door.
Abstract:
A system for powder coating a passage door has a coating booth and a hanger to electrically charge and suspend the door within the coating booth. A powder dispenser distributes powder to the door. A curing device cures the powder that is distributed on the door.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a method and system for implanting a piece of wood or wood composite to improve the electrostatic attraction thereupon. A method is provided for treating a lignocellulosic substrate such as medium density fiberboard (MDF). The method includes implanting a conductive material into the lignocellulosic substrate, pre-heating the implanted lignocellulosic substrate, coating the pre-heated implanted lignocellulosic substrate with a powder solution, and curing the powder coated substrate.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for curing powdered coatings on the face of porous wood products, such as medium density fibreboard (MDF), wherein a pair of inclined infrared catalytic heaters are used to apply heat directly onto the side edges of the board. In addition, catalytic heaters that are normally used to heat and cure the face surface of the board are moved father back to reduce their effectiveness and to limit out-gassing of entrapped air from the inner low density core of the board. This arrangement also allows the coating to cure at the side edges of the board at approximately the same rate as the face of the board, promoting a more uniform curing of the powder coating.
Abstract:
A method of reducing the formation of surface defects in a coated substrate includes providing coating powders at both the appearance surfaces and the non-appearance surfaces of the substrate. A method of coating a substrate includes machining the appearance surface of the substrate, machining the non-appearance surface of the substrate, disposing a first powder at the appearance surface of the substrate, and disposing a second powder at the non-appearance surface of the substrate. The powders are disposed at the surfaces by electrostatic deposition. A method of facilitating the adherence of a coating at an edge between two surfaces of a substrate includes configuring the edge to have a rounded surface.
Abstract:
The invention provides apparatus for electrostatically coating a pharmaceutical tablet core with powdered coating material. The apparatus comprises a first rotary drum (12) on which a core is held in electrical isolation from its surroundings but at a potential difference to earth by an electrode which contacts the core. The core is carried past a coating station B at which particles of powder having an opposite potential difference to earth are held in a tray (18). The surface of the drum is held at the same potential difference to earth as the powder particles. The powder is attracted to the core, and not to the drum, coating the exposed surface of the core. The drum carries the coated core past a fusing station C at which a heater fuses the powder to form a continuous film coating. The core is then turned and transferred onto a second drum (12null) where the other surface is coated in the same way.
