    Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of Ziegler-Natta catalyst systems containing, as active constituents, a) a titanium-containing solid component which contains titanium, magnesium, halogen and a carboxylic ester and, as cocatalyst, b) an aluminium compound and c) optionally a further electron-donor compound. The invention furthermore relates to Ziegler-Natta catalyst systems obtainable by this process, to the preparation of polymers of propylene with the aid of these catalyst systems, to polymers obtainable by this preparation method, and to films and mouldings made from these polymers.

    Abstract: Partially cross-linked synthetic materials (M) with a melt flow index (MFI) of 0.1-100 g/10 minutes (230 degrees C, 2.16 kg) and gel content less than 12 wt.% comprise: (A) a polymer of (A1) 60-92 wt.% propylene homopolymer and (A2) 8-40 wt.% propylene copolymer with 15-70 wt.% 2-10C alk-1-ene comonomers ; and (B) a compound of formula (H2C=C(R )-CO2)nX (I), where R = H or 1-4C alkyl; X = optionally substituted 1-30C alkyl or 7-30C arylalkyl, optionally containing at least one ether or carboxy function O atoms and/or NR groups in the alkyl chain; R = H or 1-6C (hydroxy)alkyl; and n = 2-3. (M) are prepared by reacting (A) and (B) for 0.2-10 minutes at 180-280 degrees C and 1-100 bar. Also claimed is this preparation method.
