    Abstract: - Mixed hydroxides of polycations, of formula (I) or (II), which are modified with various additives (III) and contain > 0 to 50 wt.% binder(s) (IV) based on aluminium and/or silicon compounds are claimed; in which M((I) = divalent metal ion(s); M(III) = trivalent metal ion(s); A = inorganic anion(s); L = an organic solvent or water; n = the valency of anion A or the average valency of several anions A; x = 0.1-0.5; m = 0-10. (III) are (a) (hetero)aromatic mono- or polycarboxylic acids or salts; (b) aliphatic mono- or polycarboxylic acids or salts with an isocyclic or heterocyclic ring in the side chain; (c) half esters of dicarboxylic acids or salts; (d) carboxylic anhydrides; (e) aliphatic or aromatic sulphonic acids or salts; (f) 8-18 carbon (C) alkyl sulphates; (g) long-chain paraffins; (h) polyether-(poly)ols; (j) alcohols or phenols; or (k) aliphatic 4-44 C dicarboxylic or aliphatic 7-34 C monocarboxylic acids. Also claimed are (a) a method for producing (I) and (II) modified with (III), in which these materials are moulded by consolidation; and (b) a method of preparing alkoxylation products (V) with improved filterability.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a process and device for the continuous preparation of N-acylaminocarboxylic acids and N-acylaminosulphonic acids and their alkali metal salts from the alkali metal salts of aminocarboxylic acids and aminosulphonic acids and carboxylic acid halides in a reactor taking the form of a closed circuit. According to the invention the reactants are fed into the closed circuit for immediate reaction and part of the product solution corresponding to the amount fed in is continuously channelled out of the closed circuit. The reactants are circulated by a circulating pump. The temperature in the reactor is controlled and the heat generated during the reaction is expelled.

    Abstract: Hydroxyalkylaminocarboxylic acid derivatives of formula (I) R -CH(OH)-CH(R )-N(R )-Y-COOM (I) are used as dispersing agent in dyestuffs or in preparations containing UV absorbers or optical brighteners. In (I), R and R = H, aryl, alkyl or alkenyl and the alkyl or alkenyl groups may be substituted with 1,2 or 3 residues selected from aryloxy or alkoxycarbonyl and/or interrupted by 1, 2, 3,4 or 5 non-adjacent O atoms, or R and R together with the groups to which they are bound may form the residue of a mono- or polyunsaturated fatty acid which forms, by way of an ester bond, part of a triglyceride, this triglyceride, depending on the original number of double bonds in its fatty acid residue, having up to 9 groups of formula (I), R = H, alkyl, -CHR -CH(OH)-R (IIa) or -(CH2)n-COOM (IIb) (where n = a whole number 1-4, R and R = as for R and R , and the sum of the C atoms in R , R , R and R = at least 4), Y = alkylene which may be substituted by an OH group and/or a group of formula COOM), or R and Y may together complete a 5- or 6-membered, saturated or unsaturated heterocyclic ring and M = H, alkali(ne earth) metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium. Also claimed is use of (I) in dye baths for dyeing with dispersion dyes using the exhaustion process, in dye baths for dyeing with vat dyes and in textile treatment liquors containing UV absorbers or optical brighteners.
