A distributed color selection and coordination system including a remote computer communicatively coupled to a server. The remote computer configured to select a starting color and access a database in the server to find one or more complementary colors. The colors in the database are arranged in a predetermined relationship with other colors in the database, the relationship between colors based on color theory. The remote computer is capable of storing personal information and color selections on the server. An in-store kiosk is communicatively coupled to the server and configured to execute color selection and coordination software. The in-store kiosk is further capable of retrieving stored personal information and color selections from the server which were previously stored from the remote computer.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus is provided for the transmission of radionuclide spectral information from a remote location. The process facilitates the use of a handheld radiation detector to detect a spectrum of radiation from a radiation source such as a cargo ship at sea. The process facilitates the downloading of information to a computer such as a PDA. The PDA is configured to allow communication with a satellite phone that transmits the stored spectrum to an evaluation center for further analysis and positive identification. Once identified, the results can be relayed to the remote location for appropriate action.
Abstract:
An optical measurement system which manages whether an optical property of a sample falls within a predetermined management range. The optical measurement system has a measuring device for measuring the optical property value of the inspected sample, a reader for reading an attribute identification information of an identification tag attached to the sample, and a storage section for storing optical property management information concerning a plurality of kinds of samples each in a manner corresponding to attribute identification information of each sample. A controller in the optical measurement system reads out from the storage section the optical property management information corresponding to the attribute identification information of the sample read by said reader, and compares the optical property management information with the optical property value of the sample, and then determines whether the optical property value falls within an allowable range in the optical property management information.
Abstract:
A miniaturized spectrometer/spectrophotometer system and methods are disclosed. A probe tip including one or more light sources and a plurality of light receivers is provided. A first spectrometer system receives light from a first set of the plurality of light receivers. A second spectrometer system receives light from a second set of the plurality of light receivers. A processor, wherein the processor receives data generated by the first spectrometer system and the second spectrometer system, wherein an optical measurement of a sample under test is produced based on the data generated by the first and second spectrometer systems.
Abstract:
A system and method for standoff detection of explosives and explosive residue. A laser light source illuminates a target area having an unknown sample producing luminescence emitted photons, scattered photons and plasma emitted photons. A first optical system directs light to the target area. A video capture device outputs a dynamic image of the target area. A second optical system collects photons, and directs collected photons to a first two-dimensional array of detection elements and/or to a fiber array spectral translator device which device includes a two-dimensional array of optical fibers drawn into a one-dimensional fiber stack. A spectrograph is coupled to the one-dimensional fiber stack of the fiber array spectral translator device, wherein the entrance slit of the spectrograph is coupled to the one dimensional fiber stack.
Abstract:
A desired color of illumination of a subject is achieved by determining settings for color inputs and applying those setting to one or more systems that generate and mix colors of light, so as to provide combined light of the desired character. In the examples of appropriate systems, an optical integrating cavity diffusely reflects light of three or more colors, and combined light emerging from an aperture of the cavity illuminates the subject. System settings for amounts of the different colors of the input lights are easily recorded for reuse or for transfer and use in other systems.
Abstract:
A spectrometer includes a structural member made of a light-weight material having a small coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). The spectrometer is dimensionally stable over a range of expected ambient temperatures, without controlling the temperature of the spectrometer.
Abstract:
Optical characteristic measuring systems and methods such as for determining the color or other optical characteristics of teeth are disclosed. Perimeter receiver fiber optics preferably are spaced apart from a source fiber optic and receive light from the surface of the object/tooth being measured. Light from the perimeter fiber optics pass to a variety of filters. The system utilizes the perimeter receiver fiber optics to determine information regarding the height and angle of the probe with respect to the object/tooth being measured. Under processor control, the optical characteristics measurement may be made at a predetermined height and angle. Various color spectral photometer arrangements are disclosed. Translucency, fluorescence, gloss and/or surface texture data also may be obtained. Audio feedback may be provided to guide operator use of the system. The probe may have a removable or shielded tip for contamination prevention. A method of producing dental prostheses based on measured data also is disclosed. Measured data also may be stored and/or organized as part of a patient data base. Such methods and implements may be desirably utilized for purposes of detecting and preventing counterfeiting or the like.
Abstract:
A data recording system for scanning tissues of human beings or other objects from crime scenes includes a hand-held scanner and computer. The scanner has a housing including a platen along the bottom surface of the housing, a scanning mechanism including an illumination source and sensor positioned within the housing under a platen, a control unit, memory for storing data files, and disposable spacers removably attached to the bottom surface of the housing that hold the scanner a predetermined distance from the tissue or object. The scanner is placed over the tissue or object and emits light from the illumination source there toward. A predetermined range of light wavelengths reflected by the object is sensed by sensors and sensor signals are generated corresponding thereto. The controller processes the sensor signals and stores them as a data file in the memory for use in medical and crime scene analysis.
