Abstract: A method of dispensing a metallic nanoparticle composition along a trajectory on a substrate is disclosed. The composition is dispensed from a nozzle through its outlet. The outlet is characterized by an outlet size. First, an initial pressure is applied to the composition in the nozzle to cause the composition to flow from the outlet. The nozzle is positioned at a height such that the composition does not flow onto the substrate. Second, the nozzle is lowered toward the substrate such that a fluid bridge forms between the outlet and the substrate and an adjusted pressure is applied to the composition in the nozzle. The adjusted pressure is lower than needed for the composition to continue to flow from the outlet. Third, the fluid is dispensed from the nozzle. A dispensing pressure is applied to the fluid while the nozzle is laterally displaced along the trajectory on the substrate.

Abstract: In the substrate processing apparatus, a support tray supporting a substrate is housed in an internal space of a chamber. A processing fluid is supplied into the internal space from one end side of the internal space. The support tray includes a tray member and a plurality of support members attached to the tray member in such a manner as to surround a substrate facing surface. The tray member has a downstream-side standing portion that has a downstream-side standing portion that stands upward further than the substrate facing surface while located in proximity to a peripheral surface of the substrate on a downstream side supported by the plurality of support members. An upper surface of the downstream-side standing portion is below the upper surface of the substrate in a vertical direction supported by the plurality of support members.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for printing high opacity images or coatings using solvent based inks comprising hollow polymeric microspheres, wherein the inks do not contain titanium dioxide. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified titanium dioxide as “possibly carcinogenic to humans,” The method of the present invention allows one to avoid the use of inks that rely on titanium oxide for high opacity, which has become of importance for articles that come into contact with one's mouth, for example, cigarette tipping papers.

Abstract: In a coating system, two rollers are arranged adjacent to one another. A donor foil with rheological material dispensed thereon is advanced through a gap between the two rollers. Such gap spreads the dispensed material over the donor foil, coating the donor foil with a layer of the material with a uniform thickness associated with the gap width. Each roller is supported on a holder. Adjustment of the gap width may be effected by keeping the position of one of the holders fixed, while horizontally translating the position of the other holder. The position of the translatable holder may be adjusted by pistons and linear actuators. The pistons may bias the moveable holder towards the stationary holder. The linear actuators mounted on the moveable holder may extend respective arms against the stationary holder, thereby countering the biasing of the pistons and pushing the moveable holder away from the stationary holder.

Abstract: A system for applying a first and a second coating composition is provided herein. The system includes a first high transfer efficiency applicator defining a first nozzle orifice and a second high transfer efficiency applicator defining a second nozzle orifice. The system further includes a first reservoir a second reservoir. The system further includes a substrate defining a first target area and a second target area. The first high transfer efficiency applicator is configured to receive the first coating composition from the first reservoir and configured to expel the first coating composition through the first nozzle orifice to the first target area of the substrate. The second high transfer efficiency applicator is configured to receive the second coating composition from the second reservoir and configured to expel the second coating composition through the second nozzle orifice to the second target area of the substrate.
