Abstract: A multi-point spectral system includes an imaging lens, an image capturing module and a multiwavelength filter (MWF) disposed between the imaging lens and the image capturing module. The MWF has a plurality of narrow-bandpass filter (NBPF) units arranged in an array, and each of the plurality of NBPF units has a respective predetermined central transmitted wavelength. The multi-point spectral system is provided to capture plural spectral images of a scene, which contain spectral or color information of the scene. The multi-point spectral system may utilize the information of the plural spectral images to recognize features revealed at the scene.

The field of view in a region of the hybrid optical assembly can be dedicated to a first detector, while the field of views in another region of the hybrid optical assembly can be dedicated to both the emission of light and ambient light sensing. Embodiments relate particularly to implementation in a mobile phone or other portable electronic devices.

Abstract: The present concept is a portable color sensor for measuring color of a substrate that includes a single flat printed circuit board with a top and bottom side which includes at least one LED light and one color sensor and at least one light pipe receiving light from the LED and transmitting it onto a substrate at an angle theta. It also includes a tube frame including an optical tube for receiving light reflections from the substrate and directing the reflections to the color sensor. The light pipes and the tube frame, are mounted and compression fit between the printed circuit board and a lower housing.

Abstract: A method for determining color properties of a target, comprising: providing an enclosure (10) having first and second opposing end walls (10a, 10b) each having an aperture therein, the first end wall (10a) having, on its surface within said enclosure, a pattern (20) of colored sections arranged around the respective aperture (16), no light source being provided within said enclosure; placing said first screen (12) over said target; substantially simultaneously illuminating, through the aperture in the second end wall, said screen overlayed on said target and using said lens module to obtain sensor data representative of at least a portion of light reflected from said screen overlayed on said target and received by said sensor; and transmitting said sensor data to a remote processing module configured to adjust a color property of said target obtained from respective target parameters derived therefor.
