Abstract: A multi-channel measurement device for measuring properties of human tissue, may comprise a microcontroller and first and second source/sensor complexes. The first source/sensor complex may include a first housing having a first measurement portion, a first light sensor coupled to the microcontroller and exposed to the first measurement portion, and a first plurality of light sources coupled to the microcontroller and exposed to the first measurement portion. The second source/sensor complex may include a second housing having a second measurement portion, a second light sensor coupled to the microcontroller and exposed to the second measurement portion, and a second plurality of light sources coupled to the microcontroller and exposed to the second measurement portion. The first and second source/sensor complexes are coupled to each other such that the first measurement portion is opposite the second measurement portion and human tissue may be placed between the first and second measurement portions. The microprocessor is configured with instructions stored in non-volatile memory to individually activate each of the light sources of the first and second pluralities of light sources and to record light intensity detected by the first and second light sources while an individual light source is activated. Each combination of an individually activated light source and one of the first and second light sensors provides a distinct measurement channel for measuring the absorption spectra of human blood and tissue.

Abstract: A system for high gain stimulated Raman spectroscopy comprises a first continuous wave laser having an output beam at a tunable optical frequency modulated at a first RF frequency, a second continuous wave laser having a second output beam at an optical frequency modulated at a second RF frequency, wherein the modulation frequencies are selected such that their beat notes represent a Raman resonance frequency, a dual-beam rasterizing probe including first and second photosensors and a rasterizer configured to scan the first and second laser output beams onto a sample, exposing the sample to a reduced average power of laser radiation stimulating the sample to emit Raman radiation signals. The Raman signals are directed to the photosensors and the outputs of the photosensors are supplied to a differential amplifier configured to provide sensitivity and gain to signals at the beat note resonant frequency and to filter signals at other frequencies.

Abstract: Surface sensing systems and methods for imaging a scanned surface of a sample via sum-frequency vibrational spectroscopy are disclosed herein. The systems further include a light detection system configured to receive the filtered light beam, and an alignment structure. The methods include methods of operating the systems.

Abstract: In one aspect, an apparatus includes a first light source that applies first light having a first wavelength as a center wavelength to an object, a second light source that applies second light having a second wavelength as a center wavelength longer than the first wavelength to the object, an optical filter that includes first and second regions and that transmits third light produced by the first and second light each passed through or reflected by the object, first and second optical detectors that determine first and second amounts, respectively, of the third light passed through the first and second regions. The transmission ranges of spectral transmission curves of the first and second regions are located between the first wavelength and the second wavelength. The spectral transmission curve of the first region has a width at half maximum different from that of the spectral transmission curve of the second region.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for performing color measurement using a standard light source color matching observation box. The method comprises: arranging a halogen tungsten lamp and a light filter in the color matching observation box for cooperation, wherein the light ray of the halogen tungsten lamp emits a main body radiation light ray through the light filter; arranging a plurality of narrow-wave LED light sources of different light-emitting wavelengths to emit a compensation light ray; mixing the main body radiation light ray and the compensation light ray in the color matching observation box into a mixed light ray that uniformly simulates a standard D illuminant; and performing a color measurement on a measured object in the color matching observation box by the mixed light ray.

Abstract: The subject matter described herein includes a curved VPH grating with tilted fringes and spectrographs, both retroreflective and transmissive, that use such gratings. A VPH grating according to the subject matter described herein includes a first curved surface for receiving light to be diffracted. The grating includes an interior region having tilted fringes to diffract light that passes through the first surface. The grating further includes a second curved surface bounding the interior region on a side opposite the first surface and for passing light diffracted by the fringes.
