Abstract: There is described an acrylic polyester resin, obtainable by grafting an acrylic polymer with a polyester material. The polyester material is obtainable by polymerizing (i) a polyacid component, with (ii) a polyol component, including—2,2,4,4-tetraallcylcyclobutane-1,3-diol. One of the polyacid component or the polyol component comprises a functional monomer operable to impart functionality on to the polyester resin, such that an acrylic polymer may be grafted with the polyester material via the use of said functionality. Also provided is an aqueous coating composition comprising the acrylic polyester resin and a metal packaging containing coated with the composition.

Abstract: A laminate having excellent moldability and including an acrylic-based resin film is provided. A method for producing a laminate having a specific crack elongation, includes a step (A) of forming, on at least one side of a specific acrylic-based resin film, a hard coat layer that contains a urethane acrylate resin, and a step (B) of forming, on the hard coat layer obtained in the step (A), a low refractive index layer that contains, in an amount of not less than 40%, hollow fine silica particles having a particle size of less than 100 nm and that contains an acrylate-based resin.

Abstract: A laminated film has a resin layer on at least one surface of a polyester film, in which the resin layer is on at least one surface layer, the water contact angle of the resin layer is 85°-100°, inclusive, and |H2-H1|≤1.0 (%) is satisfied, H1 (%) being the haze of the laminated film and H2 (%) being the haze of the laminated film after being immersed in a solvent and subjected to a rub test. This laminated film has excellent coating and releasability properties with respect to ceramic slurry.

Abstract: Improved aluminum can end stock (CES) is disclosed. The CES includes an adhered polymer coating exhibiting low feathering and high performance in various acid tests. The low feathering and resistance to acid tests is accomplished by incorporating a copolymer adhesion promoter film to an aluminum alloy before lamination. In some cases, the metal strip is pretreated with a conversion layer, which can include compounds of trivalent chromium (Cr(III)) and phosphates or titanium and zirconium.

Abstract: Described is a process for producing adhesive-coated articles, wherein an aqueous dispersion adhesive composition comprising a dispersed adhesive polymer and a dissolved polyvinylpyrrolidone is applied at high web speed to a film substrate using a coating machine having at least one rotating roller and wherein the coated film substrate may optionally be bonded to a further substrate. Also described is the use of polyvinylpyrrolidone as a defoamer for aqueous dispersion adhesive compositions applied to a film substrate using a coating machine having a rapidly rotating roller.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a resin composition comprising 20-70 wt % of an aromatic di(meth)acrylate component; 5-25 wt % of a flexible di(meth)acrylate component; and 10-70 wt % of a crosslinker component; wherein the resin composition further comprises: 0.1-10 phr initiator; 0-10 phr silica; and 5-50 phr milled carbon fiber. The invention also relates to a polymerized coating disposed over a substrate, the coating comprising 20-70 wt % aromatic di(meth)acrylate subunits; 5-25 wt % flexible di(meth)acrylate subunits; and 10-70 wt % crosslinker subunits; wherein the coating further comprises: 0.1-10 phr silica; and 5-50 phr milled carbon fiber. The invention also relates to a method of depositing a coating over a substrate, the method comprising the steps of: providing a resin composition; applying the resin composition over a substrate; and polymerizing the resin composition to form a solid coating.

Abstract: Compositions for and methods of digitally printing an ink image onto a woven textile material are provided. A base application is applied to the surface of a woven textile material, especially one comprising synthetic resin fibers prior to application of an ink image layer. The base application comprises an acrylic latex material that is formulated to be printed on with a digital ink while still wet, thereby eliminating the need for an intermediate drying cycle in between base application deposit and printing of the ink image.
