Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user not to concentrate on a specified machine for generating the presentation of information but to concentrate on the answer of a question supported by an interface. SOLUTION: While using an expandable natural word, an inquiry based on the natural word is expressed by converting it to the set of a data base inquiry and information to be provided to the user. Concretely, concerning the natural word inquiry, it is determined whether a complete data base inquiry can be formed on the basis of the natural word inquiry or not and when the inquiry can be formed, by specifying which complete data base inquiry is to be formed, the natural word inquiry is converted to the data base inquiry.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color quantizing method capable of performing an image processing algorithm which is of simple and of high speed in calculation in a color symbol level. SOLUTION: This method assigning color symbols to image pixels includes a step selecting a luminance value from the discrete set of quantized luminance values and a step selecting a chrominance value from a discrete set in which quantized chrominance values are arranged orderly and a step constituting color symbols from the index of the selected luminance value and the index of the order position of the selected chrominance value. In this embodiment, respective discrete chrominance values are selected from the Fibonacci lattice on the constant luminance plane in perceptively uniform color space of a Lab or a Luv or the like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for providing a maximum long distance service payload size to a long-distance service message transmission in order to evade re-division and transmission re-delay concerning a long distance service message in a radio communication network. SOLUTION: IN the suitable embodiment of this invention, the indication of the maximum long-distance service payload size which is transmitted from a network transmission entity to a mobile station via a network reception entity for serving the mobile station is provided to the network transmission entity. The payload size indication is used in the network transmission entity, so that the size of the long-distance service message transmitted from the network transmission entity to the mobile station via the network reception entity is formated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for resetting an interrupted call from a mobile unit. SOLUTION: This invention provides a method for resetting a call in a communication system and a mobile unit switching center(MSC). The MSC receives a loopback call request from a network element so as to reset a call such as an emergency call between the network element and a mobile unit. The loopback request has a loopback number. The MSC decides whether the loopback number can be used for warning a mobile unit. When the loopback number cannot warn the mobile unit, the MSC decides an identification number of the mobile unit. Then the MSC uses the identification number of the mobile unit to warn the mobile unit and resets a call between the mobile unit and the network element on an initial call path.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel assignment method for a wireless communication system which includes a fixed multiple beam sophisticated function antenna system. SOLUTION: The method enhances call quality and speech capacity by integrating the dynamic channel assignment technology into the sophisticated function antenna system. The sophisticated function antenna system includes a grouped beam set, each set relates a long list to a 1st short list and each beam relates to a 2nd short list. Part of communication channels is assigned a mobile station on the basis of a short-term interference level measured per each beam of the beam set. The long list and the 1st short list are formed on the basis of long-term and short-term interference levels measured as the highest with respect to each of the plural communication channels traversing each beam in the beam set.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of an assembly by which detection of light from an optical device mounted on a substrate is improved, a method for forming the assembly and a transmitting system and an optical network in which the assembly is incorporated. SOLUTION: The optical assembly (20) includes a substrate (21), a light- emitting device (22) mounted on a major surface of the substrate (21) and having a rear face (24), at least one channel (28) formed near the rear face (24) of the light-emitting device (22) in the substrate (21) and at least one light detector (13) optically connected to the light emitted from the rear face (24). The channel (28) includes at least one surface (32) and the surface (32) receives a part of the light from the rear face (24) and reflects the light so that the light may not be incident into the optical detector (13) and the optical detector (13) may primarily receives the direct light from the rear face (24) in this way.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical harness and a method for optical cross connection. SOLUTION: The optical harness is primarily prescribed by a first part 12 and a second part 14. The first part of the optical harness has M optical fiber column cables 16, while each optical fiber column cable has an array of N optical fibers arrayed on a first plane. The first plane where each optical fiber column cable is arranged is essentially parallel to other first planes where optical fiber column cables are arrayed. The second part of the optical harness has N optical fiber row cables 18, while each optical fiber row cable has an array of M optical fibers arranged on a second plane. Each optical fiber row cable is arranged on the second plane essentially parallel to other second planes where each of other optical fiber row cables is arranged.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for discrimination which a telephone line engineer can use to discriminate laid services by examining a telephone line in the field. SOLUTION: A tuning circuit having a specific resonance frequency responds to a test signal which is inputted to the line and has a specific resonance frequency with an excitation signal, and a modulator modulates the excitation signal when the test signal exists. Alternatively, an interrogative test signal including a specific frequency is inputted to the telephone line, and the excitation signal from the tuning circuit is detected in response to this specific frequency. Alternatively the telephone line is monitored with respect to the input of the test signal including a specific frequency component, and the characteristics of the test signal in the specific frequency are increased at the time of detection of the test signal on the telephone line.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission technology for digital audio information and other information by which enhanced performance capability is attained in a digital audio broadcast(DAB) system. SOLUTION: A channel code can include an external channels code such as a cyclic redundancy code(CRC) and an internal channel code such as a complementary punctured pair convolution(CPPC) code. Many code words of an external code are related to a given packet of digital information according to a specific external code configuration in order to provide partial error flagging to different parts of the given packet in this invention. An information encoder such as a PAC encoder interacts with an external code encoder to decide bit assignment for packet transmission at a specific bit rate on the basis of at least partially an external code configuration.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fading in a multiple path environment and to turn a defect of the presence of a reflection surface into an advantage, by using a 3rd polarization direction where a 3rd communication channel is generated effectively. SOLUTION: A third communication channel can be used for transmitting more information or transmitting the information having improved space diversity, so that the total communication performance is improved. The transmitting signal, having three polarization directions, is produced by a transmitter having three dipole antennas which are orthogonal to each other in a space, for example. The reception signal, having energy components in three polarization directions, is detected by a receiver having three dipole antennas orthogonal to each other in a space, for example.
