Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission connecting two camshafts together of an engine comprising two camshafts, the transmission having durability and enabling increases in the weight and cost of the transmission to be suppressed.SOLUTION: The transmission 7 connecting two camshafts 40 to each other comprises a pair of articulated parallelogram mechanisms L1 and L2. Each of the parallelogram mechanisms L1 and L2 comprises two crank members C1, C2 rotatable with the end part of the camshaft 40 and connected to each other by means of a connection rods R1, R2. The crank members are made up of circular discs eccentrically mounted on the camshafts 40 and rotatably received in circular openings formed at the ends of the respective connecting rod R1, R2. The two crank members C1, C2 rotatable with the same camshaft are spaced from each other by a determined angle.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve system having reduced axial length and having a driving mechanism and a control axle which facilitate manufacturing and assembling work therefor, and can be connected easily. SOLUTION: The variable valve system is provided with a variable mechanism which revolves the control axle 19 with the driving mechanism 24 to change a swing position of a rocker arm, thus changing a valve lift amount of an intake valve. At an axially intermediate position on an outer circumference of the control axle, a projection section 28 with a female screw hole 28c formed on a tip side thereof is integrally provided, and a linkage plate 33 is fixed onto the projection section with a fixture bolt 48. In a variable valve system for an internal combustion engine and its driving mechanism, the variable valve system comprises: a variable mechanism that revolves a control axle to change an operation characteristic of an engine valve; a projection section projected at an outer peripheral predetermined position in an axial direction of the control axle and on a tip of which a fixture section is formed; a fixture member fixed in a grasped state for the projection member via an engagement member engaged on the fixture section; a driving mechanism configured to provide a rotating force for the control axle via the fixture member; and control means (a control section) for controlling the driving mechanism in accordance with a driving state of the engine.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the deterioration of engine performance when any performance is deteriorated among a plurality of oil pumps, in an engine having a variable valve gear. SOLUTION: This variable valve gear has at least two or more of hydraulic driving parts for driving variable valve systems 10 and 12, an oil pump 3 supplying oil to a hydraulic apparatus and a lubricating part of the engine including the hydraulic driving parts, an assist pump 8 arranged other than the oil pump 3 for enhancing hydraulic fluid pressure supplied to the hydraulic driving parts from the oil pump 3, a performance deterioration determining part for determining performance deterioration in the assist pump 8, and a stopping control means for stopping the supply of a hydraulic fluid to at least one hydraulic driving part when determining the performance deterioration in the assist pump 8 by the performance deterioration determining means.
