In another aspect, the invention relates to processes for preparing 6-O-substituted erythromycin ketolides using the palladium-catalyzed alkylation reaction.

Un procedimiento para la preparacion de un compuesto tetracíclico quiral de la formula (1), en donde R es hidrogeno o un grupo alquilo C1-C6 y Z es oxigeno, azufre o -CH=CH-, los compuestos teniendo usos como agonistas de dopamina. El procedimiento involucra hacer reaccionar un material de partida quiral y los intermediarios quirales subsecuentes en una serie de reacciones sintéticas de conservacion de quiralidad.
