Abstract:
A color measurement instrument and color measurement method for measuring a color of a surface are provided. The instrument includes a plurality of independently switchable light sources characterized by differing spectral ranges, and a plurality of light guides configured to receive light from the light sources and to direct the received light to a light emitting portion of the instrument for illuminating the surface. The instrument further includes a first light detector configured to receive a portion of the light reflected from the surface. The first light detector is a wideband light detector.
Abstract:
A wide swath imaging spectrometer utilizing an array of individual spectrometer modules in the telescope focal plane to provide an extended field of view. The spectrometer modules with their individual detectors are arranged so that their slits overlap with motion on the scene providing contiguous spatial coverage. The number of modules can be varied to take full advantage of the field of view available from the telescope.
Abstract:
A thermal pump for moving a sample fluid to and through an analyzer. The pump may have a lack of moving mechanical parts when pumping except for check valves. The thermal pump may have in lieu of each mechanical check valve a thermal or fluid mechanism that effectively operates as a valve without mechanical parts. The present thermal pump may be fabricated with MEMS technology. The pump may be integrated into a concentrator and/or separator of a fluid analyzer chip.
Abstract:
A spectral analysis apparatus includes a light transmissive envelope, a first and second electrode, a sleeve, and a first and second electrical contact. The light transmissive envelope includes a first end portion and a second end portion and the envelope contains a fluid operable to emit light when electrically energized. The first electrode is disposed upon an external surface of the first end portion and is completely external to the envelope. The second electrode is disposed upon an external surface of the second end portion and is completely external to the envelope. The sleeve defines a cavity configured to removably receive the envelope. The first electrical contact is in communication with the cavity and is configured to electrically connect to the first electrode when the envelope is within the sleeve. The second electrical contact is in communication with the cavity and is configured to electrically connect to the second electrode when the envelope is within the sleeve. The first and second electrical contacts are connectable to an electrical power supply, and the electrodes electrically energize the fluid when electrically connected to the electrical power supply.
Abstract:
System and method for determining a disease state of a sample. A sample is positioned in a field of view and a first spectroscopic data set is obtained. The positional information is stored and the sample is treated with a contrast enhancing agent. The sample is repositioned in the field of view and a digital image is obtained. The spectroscopic data is linked with the digital image and a database comprising representative spectroscopic data sets is searched to classify the disease state of the sample. The disclosure also provides for the step of obtaining a processed derivative image and searching a database comprising representative processed derivative images to classify a disease state of the sample.
Abstract:
A flat panel LCD includes electronic circuitry for coupling to a host computer to receive a white-balance adjustment control signal, and electronic circuitry for receiving image data to be rendered on the flat panel LCD. Further, the flat panel LCD of one embodiment is configured for coupling to a color-sensing device to receive optical characteristics data of the flat panel LCD detected by the color-sensing device. The white balance adjustment mechanisms include the provision of two or more light sources of differing color temperature, whose brightness can be independently varied (and distributed through a light distribution mechanism) to adjust color temperature without altering the grayscale resolution of the RGB colors. The flat panel LCD further includes white balance adjustment software and gamma correction software for generating white-balance adjustment control signals and appropriate gamma correction curves.
Abstract:
A digital spectrophotometer and a spectrologial method for determining spectrum wavelength of an unknown illuminant, and the digital spectrophotometer has a base, an operating assembly and a photographic assembly. The operating assembly is attached to the base and has an operating pedestal, a rotating frame and a spectrometer. The rotating frame is connected rotatably to the operating pedestal. The spectrometer is connected solidly to the rotating frame. The photographic assembly is connected to the operating assembly. The spectrologial method is calculated the diffraction angle α i and the wavelength of the unknown illuminant by putting the parameters into the into the first and second functions.
Abstract:
A wavelength detecting apparatus capable of detecting the main wavelength of the light coming into an image capture apparatus and a focus detecting apparatus using the same are disclosed. The wavelength detecting apparatus may include a spectral unit which separates the incoming light according to the respective wavelengths, and may focus the separated light onto a sensor. The main wavelength can be determined based on the wavelength distribution sensed by the sensor. The determined wavelength can be used to further determine amount of adjustment to be made to the defocus amount to compensate for the chromatic aberration associated with the wavelength of the light illuminating the source.
Abstract:
A spectroscopic method and system to identify a biofilm of a microorganism. A sample containing a sample microorganism is irradiated with substantially monochromatic radiation. A Raman data set is obtained based on radiation scattered from the irradiated sample. A database is searched in accordance with the Raman data set in order to identify a known Raman data set from the database. The database contains a plurality of known Raman data sets where each known Raman data set is associated with a known sessile form of a corresponding known microorganism. A sessile form of the sample microorganism is identified based on the known Raman data set identified by the searching.
Abstract:
A system and method to provide a diagnosis of the renal disease state of a test renal sample. A database containing a plurality of reference Raman data sets is provided where each reference Raman data set has an associated known renal sample and an associated known renal disease state. A test renal sample is irradiated with substantially monochromatic light to generate scattered photons resulting in a test Raman data set. The test Raman data set is compared to the plurality of reference Raman data sets using a chemometric technique. Based on the comparison, a diagnosis of a renal disease state of the test renal sample is provided. The renal disease state includes renal oncocytoma or chromophobe renal carcinoma disease state.
