Abstract: A system and device that measures a specimen's surface profile by passing a bright white light source through a series of lenses which generate repeatable chromatic focal shift variations of wavelengths of white light for Z axis measurements. The movement of the sensor along an X-Y raster pattern is controlled by a X-directional and Y-directional scanner used in combination with X and Y actuators. The system and device translate the chromatic focal shifts into digital data which may then be used to both control the position of the lenses along the surface of the specimen and generate a 3D topographical images of the specimens being profiled.

The detector includes a light delivery system comprising a light source that emits one or more spectral lines of light of a light spectrum. The detector has an entrance slit configured to receive the one or more spectral lines of light and a wavelength selection module comprising a digital micro-mirror device. The digital micro-mirror device is configured to redirect the one or more spectral lines of light to a flow cell. The flow cell is optically connected to the wavelength selection module.

Abstract: An ICP emission spectrophotometer includes an inductively coupled plasma device, a spectroscope, and a computer. The spectroscope includes an incidence window, an incidence side slit, a diffraction grating, an emission window, an emission side slit, and a detector. Measurement conditions including diffraction condition and a measurement result are displayed on a display device. In a case where there are a plurality of diffraction conditions each including a combination of a diffraction grating and a diffraction order for measuring desired diffracted light, comparison information including at least an intensity and a resolution of emitted light in the diffraction condition is displayed on the display device. A measurer selects diffraction conditions in which resolution is higher from among the diffraction conditions, and selects a diffraction condition in which an intensity is obtained from among the selected diffraction conditions.

Abstract: MIR spectroscopy systems comprising hierarchical spectral dispersion that enables fine spectral resolution and high sensitivity spectroscopy are disclosed. Hierarchical spectral dispersion is derived by employing at least two diffractive lens arrays, located on either side of a test sample, each receiving input radiation having an input spectral range and distributing the input radiation into a plurality of output signals, each having a fraction of the spectral range of the input radiation. As a result, the signal multiplication factor of the two arrays is multiplied in a manner that mitigates the propagation of wavelength harmonics through the system. In some embodiments, an emitter array comprising a plurality of spectrally selective emitters provides the input MIR radiation to a spectroscopy system. In some embodiments, spectrally selective detectors are used to detect narrow spectral components in the radiation after they have passed through the test sample.

Abstract: Color calibration of color image rendering devices, such as large color displays, which operate by either projection or emission of images, utilize internal color measurement instrument or external color measurement modules locatable on a wall or speaker. A dual use camera is provided for a portable or laptop computer, or a cellular phone, handset, personal digital assistant or other handheld device with a digital camera, in which one of the camera or a display is movable with respect to the other to enable the camera in a first mode to capture images of the display for enabling calibration of the display, and in a second mode for capturing image other than of the display. The displays may represent rendering devices for enabling virtual proofing in a network, or may be part of stand-alone systems and apparatuses for color calibration. Improved calibration is also provided for sensing and correcting for non-uniformities of rendering devices, such as color displays, printer, presses, or other color image rendering device.
