Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus for powder coating 1 which includes a coat-applying station 39 for applying a powder coating P on a work 3 to be coated, and a high frequency induction heating apparatus 47 for heating the work 3 covered with the powder coating P under the effect of high frequency wave and baking the powder coating P on the work at the interface defined between the powder coating and the work. Use of the apparatus 1 provides a uniform and strong coating film without any unevenness more efficiently with the relatively compact apparatus.
Abstract:
Solid extrusion coating compositions for metal substrates, a method of extrusion coating a metal substrate, and a metal article are disclosed. The extrusion coating composition is a thermoplastic material and comprises: (a) a polyester having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 50,000 and optionally, (b) a modifying resin, selected from epoxy resins having an epoxy equivalent weight of 500 to 15,000, acrylic resins or polyolefin resins. The extrusion coating composition is applied to a metal substrate in an extrusion process to provide a composition film having a thickness of about 1 to about 40 microns.
Abstract:
A method of coating an interior surface of a metal tube with a coating material including the steps of filling the tube with a fluid degradable transport material containing a dispersion of the coating material, rotating the tube, and induction heating the tube to a fusion point of the coating material.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process to manufacture alkaline cells by applying electrically conductive paint on an inner wall area of cathode container which contacts with cathode molds, and by heating said cathode container itself by applying electromagnetic induction in order to dry and/or cure the paint and to form a uniform electrically conductive coating layer adhered firmly on the inner wall of said container. By employing this process, continuous production of alkaline cells having excellent and uniform load characteristics which deteriorate very little became possible.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for applying a synthetic resin layer to an outer surface of a metal part while the metal part is placed within a powdered mass of a thermally fusible synthetic resin. The metal part within the powdered mass is induction-heated to a temperature higher than a melting point and lower than a thermal decomposition point of the synthetic resin, in order to melt a portion of the powdered mass surrounding the heated metal part, and thereby permit the molten portion of the powdered mass to be deposited as the synthetic resin layer on the outer surface of the heated metal part. To facilitate the placement of the metal part in the powdered mass, air may be blown into the powdered mass to keep the mass in a fluid state.
Abstract:
Apparatus for drying and/or curing a coating on a metal substrate comprising apparatus for inductively heating the coated substrate in a highly confined space and apparatus for condensing evaporated liquids released as the result of the heating.
Abstract:
A machine for galvanizing and coating of steel tubing operating continuously to achieve high rates of production is provided with means for applying a protective film to a tube formed from strip steel and coated with zinc and includes means for removing the solvent from the film material and curing the material after the coating has been applied. The means includes a multistage heating apparatus to sequentially remove the solvent and cure the material.
Abstract:
A method is described for the coating of running strands or webs with a thermoplastic protective layer. The successive steps comprise the application of a primer and the hot air current drying and curing of same supplemented by inductive heating. The temperature is next raised in two successive stages by inductive type heaters, the later stage while the strand or web is vertically traversing the length of a continuously replenished dense cylindrical bed of powdered vinyl polymer or the like. The replenishment as well as cooling of the powder is accomplished through a recirculatory arrangement powered by air nozzles. Alternate coating materials are proposed including polyolefins containing compounds of metal.
