    Abstract: A liquid sample analyzing system including an ion analyzer having a first ion source receiving a target sample and a second ion source receiving a reference sample; a liquid sample introduction mechanism 3 including a passage-switching section introducing reference samples into the second ion source; and a controller for repeatedly performing a series of steps in the ion analyzer, the steps including: a pre-measurement step for initiating a measurement; a measurement step for introducing a target sample into the first ion source and performing a measurement on an ion originating from the target sample along with an ion originating from a reference sample introduced into the second ion source by the liquid sample introduction mechanism; and a post-measurement step where the liquid sample introduction mechanism operates concurrently with the predetermined post-measurement step to switch the passage-switching section to a passage having a reference sample for the next analysis.

    Abstract: There is provided an analyzer including: an ionizer unit that ionizes molecules to be analyzed; a filter unit that selectively passes ions generated by the ionizer unit; and a detection unit that detects ions that have passed the filter unit. The detection unit includes a plurality of detection elements disposed in a matrix, and the analyzer further includes a first reconfiguration unit that switches between detection patterns including detection elements to be enabled for detection out of the plurality of detection elements. The ionizer unit includes a plurality of ion sources, and the analyzer further includes a driving control unit that switches the connections of the plurality of ion sources based on changes in characteristics of the ion sources.

    Abstract: A dual-ionization mass spectrometer includes a first mass spectrometer module forming a hard ionization mass spectrometer, a second mass spectrometer forming a soft ionization mass spectrometer, a vacuum ultraviolet light source positioned between the first and second modules, a housing encompassing the first and second sets of plates and the light source, and an inlet positioned to receive a sample of an analyte and provide it to at least one of the sets of plates. A method of detecting a substance includes receiving a sample of an analyte into a housing through an inlet, performing soft ionization mass spectrometry on the sample with a soft ionization mass spectrometer in the housing, performing hard ionization spectrometry on the sample with a hard ionization spectrometer in the housing if needed, and generating a detection result from at least one of the soft ionization spectrometry and the hard ionization spectrometry.
