Abstract: A light detection device includes a semiconductor substrate, a signal detection light receiving portion that is formed in the semiconductor substrate, an infrared light receiving portion that is formed in the semiconductor substrate, a first color filter that covers the signal detection light receiving portion and that has a first spectral characteristic such that the first color filter passes therethrough light in a first wavelength range within the wavelength range of visible light and in the wavelength range of infrared light, a second color filter that covers the infrared light receiving portion and that has a second spectral characteristic such that the second color filter passes therethrough light in a second wavelength range within the wavelength range of visible light and in the wavelength range of infrared light, a third color filter that covers the infrared light receiving portion and that has a third spectral characteristic such that the third color filter passes therethrough light in a third wavelength range different from the second wavelength range within the wavelength range of visible light and in the wavelength range of infrared light, and an infrared cut filter that covers the signal detection light receiving portion and that has an opening in a region opposite to the infrared light receiving portion.

Abstract: The invention relates to a spectrophotometer, especially a spectrophotometer that can carry out simultaneous analysis at different points on the same sample (4), with a high spatial resolution and without requiring a mechanical system for physical scanning along the sample. This is obtained by the provision of means for processing the light received by the photodetectors (5), said processing means having a correlation wherein each of the photodetectors (5) corresponds to a spatial point on the sample (4).In the case of dark field applications, the present invention ensures the standardization of the data using the same measure.

Abstract: Provided is a method for monitoring a manufacturing process of an agricultural product. The method utilizes hyperspectral imaging and comprises scanning at least one region along a sample of agricultural product using at least one light source of a single or different wavelengths; generating hyperspectral images from the at least one region; determining a spectral fingerprint for the sample of agricultural product from the hyperspectral images; and comparing the spectral fingerprint so obtained to a spectral fingerprint database containing a plurality of fingerprints obtained at various points of the manufacturing process, using a computer processor, to determine which point in the manufacturing process the sample has progressed to.

Abstract: Spectrally analyzing an unknown sample (10A) for the existence of a characteristic includes (i) analyzing a first known sample (10C) having the characteristic and a second known sample (10D) not having the characteristic to identify less than fifty diagnostic spectral features, each diagnostic spectral feature being present at a different diagnostic wavelength in a mid-infrared spectral region; (ii) directing a plurality of interrogation beams (16) at the unknown sample (10A), each of the interrogation beams (16) having a different interrogation wavelength, and each interrogation wavelength corresponding to a different one of the diagnostic wavelengths; (iii) acquiring a plurality of separate output images (245) of the unknown sample (10A), wherein each of the output images (245) is acquired while the unknown sample is illuminated by a different one of the interrogation beams (16); and (iv) analyzing less than fifty output images (245) with a control system (28) to determine whether the characteristic is present in the unknown sample (10A).

Abstract: A protective sheath having a closed end and an open end is sized to receive a hand held spectrometer. The spectrometer can be placed in the sheath to calibrate the spectrometer and to measure samples. In a calibration orientation, an optical head of the spectrometer can be oriented toward the closed end of the sheath where a calibration material is located. In a measurement orientation, the optical head of the spectrometer can be oriented toward the open end of the sheath in order to measure a sample. To change the orientation, the spectrometer can be removed from the sheath container and placed in the sheath container with the calibration orientation or the measurement orientation. Accessory container covers can be provided and placed on the open end of the sheath with samples placed therein in order to provide improved measurements.

Abstract: A system is described that combines spectropolarimetry with scatterometry. The system uses an annular mirror and liquid crystal devices to control the angle of the incident light cone, the polarization and wavelength, an imaging setup and one or more video cameras so that spectroseopic-polarimetric-scatterometric images can be grabbed rapidly. The system is also designed to incorporate additional imaging modes such as interference, phase contrast, fluorescence and Raman spectropolarimetric imaging.
