Pressure is released on the upper part of the timing chain in increasing tension of the chain by opening the valve, and tension is applied in relaxing the timing chain by closing the valve with installing the balance pulley between camshafts. Vibration and noise are reduced, and the durability of the timing chain is improved by keeping tension constant.
