Abstract: PURPOSE: An inverter malfunction detection circuit for hybrid vehicles and a method thereof are provided to use a digital counter and timer, thereby determining inverter malfunction when an input signal exceeds the time corresponding to a noise margin of a sensor. CONSTITUTION: A comparator compares a critical value and sensor signal value inputted from sensors of an inverter. A high speed clock generation part(70) generates a high speed clock. A counter and timer(60) repetitively outputs high and low signals proportional to the output speed of the high speed clock. A CPU(30) outputs an PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) output signal. A PWM output buffer(40) blocks the transmission of the PWM output signal outputted from the CPU to a gate driver(50) side.
