Aspergillus flavus is an opportunistic, saprophytic fungus that infects maize and other fatty acid-rich food and feed crops and produces toxic and carcinogenic secondary metabolites known as aflatoxins. In vitro studies showed a five-fold increase in antifungal activity of AGM182 (vs. tachyplesin1) against A. flavus. Transgenic maize plants expressing AGM182 under maize Ubiquitin-1 promoter were produced through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. PCR products confirmed integration of the AGM182 gene, while RT-PCR of maize RNA confirmed the presence of AGM182 transcripts. Maize kernel screening assay using a highly aflatoxigenic A. flavus strain (AF70) showed up to 72% reduction in fungal growth in the transgenic AGM182 seeds compared to isogenic negative control seeds.

At present, there is a great need for the development of new tumor pH-shiftable nanoparticles that are effective to reduce side effects, enhance active tumor focusing, improve the cellular uptake, and nuclear/cytoplasmic targeting of chemotherapy and gene therapeutic. Hence, we designed novel solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) and liposomes (Lip) to deliver microRNA and antineoplastic agent, respectively. The designed SLN and liposomes incorporating microRNA and anticancer drugs in the core, which is surrounded by lipids modified with peptide T (a ligand plus a cell-penetrating peptide) and a nucleus-targeted sequence of peptide R as the inner shell. Moreover, coating a pH-responsive polymer (PGA-PEG) on the outer layer of Lip-TR (PGA-Lip-TR) and SLN-T (PGA-SLN-T) can protect the peptide T and R from degradation by peptidases during systemic circulation and enhance directing to the acidic tumor sites. Collectively, these pH-shiftable nanoparticles may provide a novel and potential strategy for anticancer therapy.

A method of and a device for operating a service discovery and selection function in a telecommunications system, wherein the service discovery and selection function registers a service profile of a service provided by at least one service producer of the telecommunications system. The service profile among others includes consistency group information and proximity information. The consistency group information identifies instances of the service sharing a same state and the proximity information identifies deployment of the instances in the telecommunications system. The service discovery and selection function, from the service profile, based on service selection criteria, selects a single service instance of the service for a service consumer of the telecommunications system requesting the service, and identifies the selected service instance to the service consumer.

Systems and methods define an enhanced charging function (CHF) in a communication network by creating a type of slice analysis functionality. For example, the system can access slice information from multiple Policy Control Functions (PCFs) and determine analytics for multiple slices associated with a subscriber user/device or group of subscriber users/devices. Using the enhanced CHF, the system can trigger slice level decisions at a higher level of the hierarchy based on information being aggregated for family devices/plans, category, quota, usage, or other groupings at the CHF instead of just at the individual slice level (e.g., similar to standard PCF functionality).

Techniques for controlling updating of information stored on a device, the information including information of a first type and information of a second type. The techniques include determining, using at least one processor, when a first item of information of the first type and a second item of information of the second type are to be updated, wherein the second item of information is to be updated more frequently than the first item of information; and causing the device to update the first and second items of information in accordance with the determination at least in part by wirelessly communicating with at least one other device.

This specification generally relates to a method and system for providing curbside pickup. In one example method, an order to be fulfilled via curbside delivery is received at a merchant, where the order is associated with a first entity. The merchant receives a notification of arrival of the first entity to or within a pre-determined area associated with the merchant, where the notification includes location information associated with the first entity. The merchant can then generate a set of directions for a second entity to travel to reach the first entity based on the location information associated with the first entity, and can present the generated set of directions to the second entity for completing the curbside delivery. The merchant can then receive a confirmation of the delivery after interactions between the second entity and the first entity at the first entity's location.

Examples of the disclosure describe systems and methods for presenting an audio signal to a user of a wearable head device. According to an example method, a first input audio signal is received. The first input audio signal is processed to generate a first output audio signal. The first output audio signal is presented via one or more speakers associated with the wearable head device. Processing the first input audio signal comprises applying a pre-emphasis filter to the first input audio signal; adjusting a gain of the first input audio signal; and applying a de-emphasis filter to the first audio signal. Applying the pre-emphasis filter to the first input audio signal comprises attenuating a low frequency component of the first input audio signal. Applying the de-emphasis filter to the first input audio signal comprises attenuating a high frequency component of the first input audio signal.

According to certain embodiments, a microphone array having a plurality of microphone elements is calibrated by ensonifying the microphone array at a first direction relative to the microphone array with a first acoustic signal to concurrently generate a first set of audio signals from two or more of the microphone elements and processing the first set of audio signals to calibrate the two or more microphone elements. One or more other sets of audio signals can be generated by ensonifying the microphone array with one or more other acoustic signals at one or more other directions relative to the microphone array, where the two or more microphone elements are calibrated using the first set and the one or more other sets of audio signals. The calibration process can be performed outside of an anechoic chamber using one or more acoustic sources located outside or inside the microphone array.

Techniques described herein may involve audio settings based on an environment. An example implementation may involve a playback device playing back first audio content and during playback of at least a portion of the first audio content, detecting, via the at least one microphone, an audio signal. At least a portion of the detected audio signal may include a reflection of the first audio content played back by the playback device. The playback device may determine an equalization setting based on at least the determined one or more reflection characteristics and apply the determined equalization setting during playback of second audio content.

Methods and systems for optimizing a routing of audio data to audio transmitting devices using a Bluetooth network are disclosed. One method includes receiving an encoded audio bitstream at a first speaker of the audio rendering system comprising a first and a second audio channels, separating a first set of spectral components of the first audio channel and a second set of spectral components of the second audio channel from the encoded audio bitstream, without decoding the audio bitstream, generating a first encoded bitstream from the first set of spectral components, and forwarding the first encoded bitstream to a second speaker of the audio rendering system over the wireless link.

A method performed by a wearable audio output device worn by a user is provided for controlling external noise attenuated by wearable audio output device. A speech is detected from a user wearing the wearable audio output device, wherein the audio output device has active noise reduction turned on. It is determined, based on the detecting, that the user desires to speak to a subject in the vicinity of the user. In response to the determining, a level of noise reduction is reduced to enable the user to hear sounds external to the audio output device. It is determined that the user desires to speak to the subject by detecting at least one condition of a plurality of conditions.
