Abstract: A regenerable antimicrobial coating with long-lasting efficacy for use in medical applications including implants, medical instruments or devices, and hospital equipment is disclosed. The regenerable antimicrobial coating is derived from a polymer doped with a metal derivative which has been exposed to vapor-phase hydrogen peroxide, wherein hydrogen peroxide is sequestered in or on the doped polymer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a structured, at least partly optically transparent varnish surface on a surface of a substrate board, preferably of a wood material board, having a decoration. The steps of the method include applying a transparent or at least partly transparent varnish to an applicator roll thereby producing a structured varnish surface and transferring the structured varnish surface to a substrate board having a decoration. The varnish is applied to the applicator roll by a plurality of digitally controlled nozzles in a distribution defining a structure and/or is transformed on the applicator roll into a distribution defining a structure. Furthermore, a device for carrying out the method is described.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to methods of making carbon nanotube-coated substrates by dissolving carbon nanotubes in a solvent to form a carbon nanotube solution; and coating a surface of a substrate with the carbon nanotube solution to form one or more carbon nanotube layers on the surface of the substrate. The carbon nanotube solution may include a superacid solvent. A cable made out of the carbon nanotube-coated substrates may include one or more internal insulating layers that surround the surface of one or more internal conductors. Carbon nanotube solutions may be coated onto the one or more internal insulating layers to form one or more carbon nanotube layers. Additional embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to carbon nanotube-coated substrates formed by the methods of the present disclosure. The carbon nanotube-coated substrates may include one or more carbon nanotube layers derived from a carbon nanotube solution.

Abstract: A method of depositing a film comprising a monolayer of particles. The method includes providing a dispersion comprising particles and at least two liquids and depositing drops of the dispersion onto a substrate and evaporating the at least two liquids resulting in a film of a monolayer of the particles. One embodiment of the method includes a coating on the outer surface of particles such that the coating makes the particles substantially non-dispersible, substantially non-soluble and substantially non-suspendable in one of the liquids. A particulate film containing at least one layer of particles, wherein the at least one layer is substantially made of particles of a chemical composition and has uniform thickness. Optical devices containing a particulate film containing at least one layer of particles, wherein the at least one layer is substantially made of particles of a chemical composition and has uniform thickness.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for preparing a nanoporous ultra-low dielectric thin film including a high-temperature ozone treatment and nanoporous ultra-low dielectric thin film prepared by the same method. The method includes preparing a mixture of an organic silicate matrix-containing solution and a reactive porogen-containing solution; coating the mixture on a substrate to form a thin film; and heating the thin film with an ozone treatment. The prepared nanoporous ultra-low dielectric thin film could have a dielectric constant of about 2.3 or less and a mechanical strength of about 10 GPa or more by improving a pore size and a distribution of pores in the thin film by performing an ozone treatment with high temperature and optimization of the ozone treatment temperature.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for texturing surfaces providing the latter with superhydrophobic, superoleophobic, superhydrophilic or even superoleophilic properties. This process comprises i) a step of texturing the surface (via the deposition of nanoparticles of different sizes); ii) a step of curing the surface thus textured (with a curing agent); and, optionally, a step of modifying the properties of the surface with perfluorinated (and therefore hydrophobic) molecules. This process is suitable, inter alia, for treating transparent and/or heat-sensitive materials and surfaces. Specifically, none of the steps of the process use a temperature higher than 100° C. Thus, the process of the invention is particularly suitable for treating transparent surfaces composed of non-mineral materials, such as polycarbonate for example, as it wilt affect neither their transparency nor their optical properties.

Abstract: A method for preparing a flavor-containing sheet for a smoking article, characterized by includes a step of extending a raw material slurry on a substrate, wherein the slurry contains polysaccharide and a flavor, has a moisture content of 70 to 95 wt %, and has a temperature of 60 to 90° C. in a sol state, a step of cooling the extended raw material slurry to a sample temperature of 0 to 40° C. to form a gel, and a heat-drying step includes heating the gelled raw material and drying it at a sample temperature of 70 to 100° C.
