Abstract: PURPOSE: A main relay monitoring apparatus and a method thereof for an environment friendly vehicle are provided to reduce costs and simplify a system by monitoring the fusion of the main relay without using an additional separate circuit. CONSTITUTION: A main relay monitoring apparatus of an environment friendly vehicle comprises a main battery(110), a main relay(120), an inverter(130), and a controller(200). The main battery stores a high voltage. The main relay controls the voltage output of the main battery. The inverter supplies a driving voltage to the motor by converting a voltage supplied through the main relay from the main battery into AC voltage. The controller forcibly discharges a voltage which is charged in a DC link capacitor after cutting off the main relay by an ignition off. The controller determines the existence of fusion of the main relay by comparing the voltage of the main battery and an input voltage of the inverter. Abstract: A method for diagnosing a defect of a DC-DC converter of an electric vehicle is provided to lengthen durability of the DC-DC converter and an auxiliary battery in a hybrid/fuel cell vehicle by diagnosing rapidly the defect of the DC-DC converter.
