During the processing of substrates, the substrate surface may be subjected to a cleaning process using supercritical CO2. Surface matter may remain, for example, because it is only minimally soluble in the supercritical CO2. For example, an oxidation cleaning process causes the substrate structure to cleave at several points leaving smaller fragments of oxidized residue behind. This residue has only minimal solubility in supercritical CO2 due to the polar constituents resulting from oxidation. The method thus further includes processing the substrate with supercritical CO2 and a functionalizing agent that can react with the smaller fragments and/or other less soluble components. These functionalized components are rendered more soluble in supercritical CO2 and are more easily removed than their predecessors.

Each sub-stream is transmitted down a corresponding one of the distribution trees. Clients that receive sub-streams from its parent nodes in the distribution trees in turn forward the sub-streams to their child nodes in the trees.

Asynchronous messages are used to prefetch and/or relinquish tokens used in providing locking of shared resources. A message is sent to prefetch one or more tokens, and prior to receiving a reply for the message, another message (e.g., an acquire) is sent for at least one of those tokens. Similarly, a message is sent indicating a voluntary relinquish of one or more tokens and without having acknowledgment that the relinquish request was processed, a further message (e.g., an acquire) is sent for at least one of the tokens. Multiple tokens may be acquired and/or relinquished in a single message to the token server. This reduces message delays and overall message traffic.

Improved methods for providing recoverable workflow of complex and/or risk-prone workflows in a computer system or computer network include segmenting such workflows into sub-processes, associating a checkpoint with the end of each sub-process, and determining whether processing of each sub-process was successful. If so, a set of parameters is stored at each checkpoint before processing the next sub-process, but otherwise processing of the failed sub-process is retried, using the parameter set stored at the previous checkpoint. In one embodiment, the methods are implemented by a certified messaging capability that guarantees delivery of any message. In the event a hardware or software failure occurs during a sub-process execution, the certified messaging capability returns a failure indication, so that execution of the failed sub-process can be reinitiated. Improved computers and computer networks for providing recoverable workflow are also described.

Data corresponding to a structured report or multi-dimensional presentation is converted to formulas within cells of a spreadsheet. The cell formulas operate on a multi-dimension database that was the data source for the structured report. Therefore the layout of the data in the cells is similar to the layout of the data in structured report. The user is able to move the formulas around in the spreadsheet resulting in any custom layout the user desires. Because the data is no longer in a structured report, it is no longer subject to the layout restrictions of the report.
