A method for separating large and small targets from noise in radar IF signals, according to which a receiver receives, echo signals that are reflected from targets of different size (such as walls or ground), in response to the transmission of chirp FMCW radar signals, modulated (e.g., using Linear Frequency Modulation) in a predetermined modulation speed for a predetermined duration. Heritable mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 and other genes in the DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair pathway increase risk of breast, ovarian and other cancers. In response to DNA breaks, the proteins encoded by these genes bind to each other and are transported into the nucleus to form nuclear foci and initiate homologous recombination. Flow cytometry-based functional variant analyses (FVAs) were developed to determine whether variants in BRCA1 or other DSB repair genes disrupted the binding of BRCA1 to its protein partners, the phosphorylation of p53 or the transport of the BRCA1 complex to the nucleus in response to DNA damage. Each of these assays distinguished high-risk BRCA1 mutations from low-risk BRCA1 controls. Mutations in other DSB repair pathway genes produced molecular phenocopies with these assays. FVA assays may represent an adjunct to sequencing for categorizing VUS or may represent a stand-alone measure for assessing breast cancer risk.

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for imaging cells. Quantitative phase imaging uses variations in the index of refraction of a sample as a source of endogenous contrast, providing label-free information of sub-cellular structures and allowing for the reconstruction of valuable biophysical parameters, such as cell dry-mass at femtogram scales, mass transport, and sample thickness and fluctuations at nanometer scales. As a result, QPI has become a valuable tool in biology and medicine. However, QPI has suffered from the need for trans-illumination through relatively thin objects in order to gain access to the forward-scattered field, which carries crucial low spatial frequency information of a sample and avoid contributions from multiple scattered light or out-of-focus planes. Methods and systems measure a vehicle body parameter; e.g., a wheel alignment parameter such as ride height. Embodiments include a system having a target attachable to a vehicle body, and an image sensor for viewing the target and capturing image data thereof. A processor processes the image data, determines an initial spatial position of the target based on the processed image data, compares the initial spatial position of the target with a reference position, and prompts a user to align the target to an adjusted spatial position when the initial spatial position differs from the reference position more than a threshold amount. The vehicle body parameter value is determined based on the target's adjusted spatial position. In certain embodiments, the adjusted spatial position differs from the reference position by a position error value, and the processor mathematically corrects the vehicle body parameter value based on the position error value.

Using the same image sensor to capture both a two-dimensional (2D) image of a three-dimensional (3D) object and 3D depth measurements for the object. A laser point-scans the surface of the object with light spots, which are detected by a pixel array in the image sensor to generate the 3D depth profile of the object using triangulation. Each row of pixels in the pixel array forms an epipolar line of the corresponding laser scan line. Timestamping provides a correspondence between the pixel location of a captured light spot and the respective scan angle of the laser to remove any ambiguity in triangulation. An Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) in the image sensor generates a multi-bit output in the 2D mode and a binary output in the 3D mode to generate timestamps. Strong ambient light is rejected by switching the image sensor to a 3D logarithmic mode from a 3D linear mode.

A secondary cooling control method for reinforcing surface solidification structure of microalloyed steel continuous casting bloom includes: in situ observing precipitation behavior of secondary phase particles of the microalloyed steel, and determining a concentrated precipitation temperature range; cooling the microalloyed steel at different cooling rates, obtaining a particle size and a volume fraction of the secondary phase particles of the microalloyed steel at different cooling rates; determining an optimal average cooling rate; determining an optimal average cooling rate r; determining an optimal average cooling rate; and determining an optimal average cooling rate range through intersection of the three optimal average cooling rates whereby the continuous casting secondary cooling is optimized. The present invention can enhance the surface solidification structure of continuous casting bloom and reduce surface and subsurface cracks of the microalloyed steel continuous casting bloom.

The invention is generally related to a method for producing, in a consistent manner, contact lenses each having an intact durable coating thereon, wherein the coating is a hydrogel coating formed by covalently attached a hydrophilic polymeric material having azetidinium groups onto a base coating of a polyanionic polymer on a contact lens at a relatively low temperature (e.g., from about 40° C. to about 60° C.). The coating temperature for forming a durable hydrogel coating on top of the base coating of a contact lens can be significantly lowered by raising, in situ, the pH (to about 9.5 or higher) of a reactive coating solution which contains the hydrophilic polymeric material having azetidinium groups.

A filter device is disclosed. The filter device includes a coalesce and a final separator arranged one after another in a flow direction. The final separator includes final separator material and is arranged radially within the coalesce. The coalesce is configured hollow-cylindrical and includes a coalescer material and an external support structure with an upper coalescer ring and a lower coalescer ring that are connected with one another via axial coalescer ribs. A positioning element is provided on the final separator. A positioning opening is provided in a region of the at least one lower coalescer ring. The positioning opening is configured in a complementary manner to the positioning element and the final separator engages into the positioning opening in a mounted state with the positioning element and thereby aligns the final separator relative to the coalesce.

Automated detection of events in content can be performed using regions of information associated with various user interface or display elements. Certain elements can be indicative of a type of event, and regions associated with these elements can be analyzed on a per-frame basis. If one of these primary regions shows a state or transition that is indicative of one of these events, one or more secondary regions can be analyzed as well to attempt to verify whether that event occurred, as well as whether that event qualifies for selection for additional use. Selected events can be used for purposes such as to generate highlight montages, training videos, or user profiles. These events may be positioned at different layers of an event hierarchy, where child regions are only analyzed for frames where a parent region is indicative of a type of event.

In dynamic adjustment of data streamed over a network for display on an output device, display capability information of an output device is requested and received. The display capability information includes information indicating whether the output device is in a horizontal or vertical orientation relative to a user. Two or more data streams configured for display on the output device are formatted such that in a manner consistent with the display capability information and formatted for either vertical or horizontal orientation of the output device. The data streams include a user interface data stream and a separate video data stream. The user interface data and the video data are scaled separately. The streams are delivered to the output device via a network connection by a server to a client device platform used in combination with the output device.
