The index-matching material has a refractive index that is sufficient to reduce intensity variations of the actinic radiation within the optical fiber. Some embodiments of the system include different vessels for holding the index-matching material, with the vessel having an interferometer integrated into the vessel. These vessels permit the optical fiber to be surrounded by the index-matching material while the gratings are written to the optical fiber.

A method for assessing an inflow performance relationship for a horizontal well in heterogeneous solution gas drives reservoirs. A commercial simulator Eclipse is utilized to develop IPRs for horizontal wells producing oil from solution gas drive reservoirs. Firstly, a simulation model is developed where a base case is considered with typical rock, fluid and reservoir properties using a black oil model. Dimensionless IPR curves are generated by obtaining a set of points relating to flowing bottom-hole pressures to oil production rates. The effects of several reservoir and fluid properties such as bubblepoint pressure, oil gravity, residual oil saturation, critical gas saturation, initial water saturation, porosity and absolute permeabilities on the calculated curves are investigated. A new single empirical IPR model is obtained for horizontal wells producing oil from heterogeneous solution gas drive reservoirs suitable for systems with different reservoir permeability.

A new method for processing search radar data is revealed using the mathematics of random matrix theory. During the time that the radar receiver is listening for return target echoes, the raw data stream is fed to an analog to digital converter to create a sample voltage file. This sample voltage file is processed by a digital signal processor that computes the eigenvalues of a sample covariance matrix generated for each pulse duration interval. The ratio of the largest to smallest eigenvalue is determined and compared to the system noise eigenvalue ratio. The sensitivity for detecting targets over the present state of the art is expected to be an approximate enhancement factor of one thousand, due to the detection of coherent energy instead of a transmitted waveform. The increase of detection distance for same radar cross section is expected to be an approximate 5.6 enhancement factor.

After the heat and pressure has been applied, a gripping device may grasp the tab and move the tab in a direction and with sufficient force to peel the rubber object from the mold cavity. If desired, the tab may be removed from the molded rubber object.

Accordingly, contact resistance occurring when fabricating a fin-tube heat exchanger using a mechanical tube expansion method may be reduced, and heat transfer performance of the heat exchanger may be improved because grooves formed within the tube may not be deformed.
