A high pressure rotary nozzle having a rotating shaft operating within a fixed housing wherein the of axial force which acts upon the shaft due to the fluid pressure at the shaft inlet is balanced by allowing passage of a small amount of the pressurized fluid to be bled to an area or chamber between the outside of the opposite end of the shaft and the inside of the housing where the fluid pressure can act axially in an opposing direction upon the shaft to balance the axial inlet force. The balance of axial forces is self-regulating by controlling escape of the fluid through a tapered or frusto-conical region between the shaft and housing. This further provides a fluid bearing between the two surfaces and allows use of interchangeable rotating jet heads having jet orifices which can be oriented in virtually any desirable configuration including axially forward of the nozzle.

We show that register allocation can be viewed as solving a collection of puzzles. We model the register file as a puzzle board and the program variables as puzzle pieces. We model pre-coloring by letting some of the puzzle pieces be already immovably placed on the puzzle board, and we model register aliasing by letting pieces have a plurality widths. For a wide variety of computer architectures, we can solve the puzzles in polynomial time. Puzzle solving is independent of spilling, that is, puzzle solving can be combined with a wide variety of approaches to spilling.

There are provided a memory space allocation method and a memory space allocation device that aim at higher-speed accesses when a memory is shared by a plurality of circuits. In this memory, one data is accessed by issuing addresses a plurality of times. Memory allocation is performed so that high-order addresses of memory spaces of an external memory 505 may be maximally shared by a plurality of circuits 501. When the high-order addresses are common, a memory control circuit does not transfer the high-order addresses, thereby reducing the number of transfers of the high-order addresses. Therefore, the higher-speed access is achieved.

A memory interface allows access to SDRAM by receiving a column address for a data read or write of a burst of data units. Each data unit in the burst has an expected bit size. The interface generates n (n>1) column memory addresses from the received column address. The interface accesses the synchronous dynamic memory to read or write n bursts of data at the n column memory addresses. Preferably, the SDRAM is clocked at n times the rate of the interconnected memory accessing device, and the memory units. The data units in the n bursts preferably have one nth the expected bit size. In this way, SDRAM may be accessed with high memory bandwidth, without requiring an increase in the size of data units in the SDRAM, and the associated data bus. Conveniently, the interface may be operable in two separate modes or configurations. In one mode, SDRAM may be accessed through the interface in a conventional manner. In the second mode, SDRAM is accessed in multiple bursts for each received burst access. The interface may form part of a memory accessing device, or may be a separate component for use with such a device.

Systems and methods are provided for regularly updating a web index with new or updated content, such as meta words or meta streams, for a particular web page address, such as a URL. Web page addresses and associated updated information, such as meta words, meta streams, values, and locations in the web index for those meta words are received. In the method and device for interoperating a first station using a first communication scheme and comprising a first coder and a first decoder with a second station using a second communication scheme and comprising a second coder and a second decoder, communication between the first and second stations is conducted by transmitting signal-coding parameters related to a sound signal from the coder of one of the first and second stations to the decoder of the other station. The sound signal is classified to determine whether the signal-coding parameters should be transmitted from the coder of one station to the decoder of the other station using a first communication mode in which full bit rate is used for transmission of the signal-coding parameters. When classification of the sound signal determines that the signal-coding parameters should be transmitted using the first communication mode and when a request to transmit the signal-coding parameters from the coder of one station to the decoder of the other station using a second communication mode designed to reduce bit rate during transmission of the signal-coding parameters is received, a portion of the signal-coding parameters from the coder one station is dropped and the remaining signal-coding parameters are transmitting to the decoder of the other station using the second communication mode. The dropped portion of the signal-coding parameters are regenerated before the decoder of the other station decodes the signal-coding parameters.

Packets of real-time information are sent with a source rate greater than zero kilobits per second, and a time or path or combined time/path diversity rate initially being zero kilobits per second. This results in a quality of service QoS, optionally measured at the sender or the receiver. When the QoS is on an unacceptable side of a threshold of acceptability, the sender sends diversity packets at an increased rate. Increasing the diversity rate while either reducing or maintaining the overall transmission rate is new. CELP-based multiple-description data partitioning sends the base or important information plus a subset of fixed excitation in one packet and sends the base or important information plus the complementary subset of fixed excitation in another packet. Reconstruction produces acceptable quality when only one of the two packets is received and better quality when both packets are received. Reconstruction provides for single and multiple lost packets.

Each bin range expands concurrently with the distribution range of the accumulating items assigned to the bin, adding a margin. For every N'th read item, overlapping or adjoining bins are merged, whereupon the bins are assessed for insider preclusion. Information regarding outliers is extracted from the remaining outlier bins when the entire data sequence has been processed.

A beamforming system that can be used for both receive and transmit beamforming is provided. The system receives samples of a number of signals, each sample containing a band of frequencies and routes all sampled signals associated with the same beamformed frequency band to a predetermined processing block. A predetermined number of the routed sampled signals are selected sequentially according to predetermined criteria, weighted and accumulated to form a composite signal. Individual signals are then selected from the composite signal and routed to an appropriate output. The system uses a much smaller number of weighting functions than conventionally required, with processing for a single frequency being performed in the same processing block. This reduces the complexity of beamforming processing substantially and simplifies frequency reuse. In addition a single DSP design that works for both transmit and receive beamforming can be implemented.

An objective of the present invention is to provide a portable information terminal device capable of exclusively storing information which is useful to identify an illegal user.If a matching degree between characteristic information extracted from a photographed image by a characteristic extraction part 402A and registered characteristic information is determined to be smaller than an authentication threshold value by a matching degree determination part, 402C, an error history information management part 404 causes an error history information storage part 414 to store error history information obtained at that time. Therefore, history information obtained when authentication has failed in the authentication process is stored as error history information only when a person who differs from a true user such as, for example, a person who has stolen a mobile phone tries to use the mobile phone illegally and characteristic information is extracted from a face image of the person, so that the person can be identified from the error history information after the mobile phone is retrieved.

In this invention, image data expressed by one component is encoded at a high speed by using a color image lossless encoder. To do this, a color conversion unit converts color image data read by a document reading unit into C, M, Y, and K data. In a color reading mode, a switching unit directly outputs the C, M, Y, and K data to an encoding unit. If the reading mode is a monochrome reading mode, the switching unit neglects the C, M, and Y components of the C, M, Y, and K data. Every time four K components are input, the switching unit supplies the four K components to the encoding unit as pseudo data of C, M, Y, and K color components. The encoding unit lossless-encodes the received C, M, Y, and K component data.
