The present disclosure describes an apparatus that may be used to generate desalinated water from a supply of untreated water using a photovoltaic cell. The front surface of the photovoltaic cell is partially enclosed to form an evaporation chamber. The front surface of the photovoltaic cell is exposed to sunlight or another light source. This exposure results in power generation by the photovoltaic cell and also heats the air in the evaporation chamber. Untreated water is subsequently introduced into the evaporation chamber. Upon contacting the heated air and the front surface of the photovoltaic cell, a portion of the untreated water evaporates to generate water vapor. The water vapor is then removed from the evaporation chamber and transported to a condensation chamber. The water vapor is cooled in the condensation chamber to yield desalinated water.

A method and a corresponding system for assessing a haemodynamic parameter for a vascular region of interest of a patient based on angiographic images are provided. After acquiring multiple angiographic images, a three dimensional (3D) representation of at least a first portion of the respective region of interest is performed, and geometric features are extracted from complete or partial views. Additional geometric features are extracted from partial incomplete views. A complete set of 3D geometric features for an anatomical structure, such as a vessel tree, is then generated by combining the extracted geometric features and estimating any missing geometric features. Using the complete set of 3D geometric features, a feature-based assessment of the haemodynamic parameter, such as a fractional flow reserve, is then performed.

A neuromodulator accurately measures—in real time and over a range of frequencies—the instantaneous phase and amplitude of a natural signal. For example, the natural signal may be an electrical signal produced by neural tissue, or a motion such as a muscle tremor. The neuromodulator generates signals that are precisely timed relative to the phase of the natural signal. For example, the neuromodulator may generate an exogenous signal that is phase-locked with the natural signal. Or, for example, the neuromodulator may generate an exogenous signal that comprises short bursts which occur only during a narrow phase range of each period of an oscillating natural signal. The neuromodulator corrects distortions due to Gibbs phenomenon. In some cases, the neuromodulator does so by applying a causal filter to a discrete Fourier transform in the frequency domain, prior to taking an inverse discrete Fourier transform.

A treatment efficacy of a treatment for treating a parkinsonian disease is determined. A first set of imaging information/data associated with a dMRI scan of an individual's brain captured at a first time and a second set of imaging information/data associated with a dMRI scan of the individual's brain captured at a second time are received. The individual underwent the treatment for a time period comprising at least part of the time between the first and second times. The information configuring the RAN-based notification area comprises one or more tracking area codes, each of the one or more tracking area codes being used to identify a tracking area.

Systems, methods, and software can be used to monitor resource access. In some aspect, an electronic device determines that an application attempts to access a resource on the electronic device. The electronic device determines whether the application is operating in a foreground of an operating system (OS) on the electronic device or in a background of the OS on the electronic device. If the application is operating in the foreground, the application is permitted to access the resource. If the application is operating in the background, a notification is generated to indicate that a background application attempts to access a resource.

According to an embodiment of this disclosure, a method for transmitting and receiving a signal in a device of a mobile communication system includes steps of receiving, from a base station, a first message containing one or more of synchronization information and resource allocation information; transmitting, to other device, a second message containing the received synchronization information and resource allocation information; and receiving, from the other device, a third message for a random access based on the synchronization information and the resource allocation information. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, even a device failing to obtain synchronization can obtain synchronization from a base station through other device, receive authentication and security related information, and thereby perform reliable D2D communication. Also, a communication efficiency can be improved by transmitting and receiving D2D related information between devices through limited resources.

A wireless network includes a base station and a user equipment. The base station is configured to wirelessly transmit radio frequency (RF) signaling representing synchronization signal block (SSB) burst comprising a set of SSBs, each SSB associated with a different beam transmitted by the base station and having a corresponding index value representing a position of the SSB in the SSB burst. The user equipment is configured to detect an SSB of the SSB burst and to identify an index value of the SSB by iteratively performing a decoding process for a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) of the SSB, each performed iteration using a different index values selected from a prioritized ordering of the set of index values.
