In a scroll compressor, a sealing portion of a discharge cover placed between a suction spacer and a discharge space is formed to be spaced apart in an axial direction from a fixed scroll, whereby the discharge cover is in contact with a fixture in an axial direction only on a single circumference, facilitating fabrication and assembling of the discharge cover. Also, after assembly, when the discharge cover is pressurized toward the fixed scroll by a discharge pressure of a refrigerant discharged to the discharge space, the discharge cover does not transfer pressurization force to the fixed scroll, thus reducing a frictional loss between the fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll.

A layout of a standard cell is created by prioritizing routability characteristics of the standard cell layout. The routability characteristics are prioritized so that the characteristics that are more likely to enhance routing efficiency are emphasized in the cell layout. The prioritization of the routability characteristics can be indicated by a set of weights, with each weight in the set indicating the priority of a corresponding routability characteristic of the standard cell layout. The weights can be used to calculate a weighted sum of the routability characteristics of the standard cell, thereby providing a way to efficiently compare the routability of different standard cell layouts.

Definition of a phase shifting layout from an original layout can be time consuming. If the original layout is divided into useful groups, i.e. clusters that can be independently processed, then the phase shifting process can be performed more rapidly. If the shapes on the layout are enlarged, then the overlapping shapes can be grouped together to identify shapes that should be processed together. For large layouts, growing and grouping the shapes can be time consuming. Therefore, an approach that uses bins can speed up the clustering process, thereby allowing the phase shifting to be performed in parallel on multiple computers. Additional efficiencies result if identical clusters are identified and processing time saved so that repeated clusters of shapes only undergo the computationally expensive phase shifter placement and assignment process a single time.
