A CTS nozzle achieves the object of reducing rubber chips produced when the CTS nozzle is inserted into and extracted from a rubber plug of a sample container during dispensing of a sample, thereby inhibiting the wear of the tip of the CTS nozzle. The CTS nozzle has two cut surfaces at its tip, and the pressure applied from the rubber when the nozzle is inserted into the rubber plug is dispersed onto the two cut surfaces without being deflected onto one of the cut surfaces. The pressure applied to the nozzle due to the resilience of the rubber being pushed away by the nozzle is thus dispersed and the rubber chips produced by the friction between the cut surfaces of the nozzle and the rubber are reduced. As a result of the reduced friction, the wear of the tip of the nozzle is minimized.

An integrated approach for cleaning an active surface of a petrochemical sensor. Sensors in the petrochemical industry are often deployed in locations where they are prone to fouling. By heating the active surface fouling substances may be removed from the active surface. Heating the surface above a supercritical point of a fluid being sensed may create a fluid that may serve to clean the active surface. Limiting the duration of the applied heating and/or pulsing the heating may mitigate adverse effects of use of high temperatures. A doped active surface, such as a doped diamond window may be designed to have conductive areas in the window that may be used for resistive heating of the window.

Gene therapy applications of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) require effective and specific modification of HSPCs by DNA, RNA or other biological molecules. Here we disclose methods for the generation, and modification of megakaryocytic microparticles (MkMPs) or microvesicles, that can be used in the aforementioned transfusion and transplantation medicine applications and in gene therapy applications involving hematopoietic stem cells. The biological effects of modified or unmodified MkMPs have never been previously disclosed and thus, this invention claims all biological applications of MkMPs in in vivo therapeutic applications or ex vivo applications to produce various cells and cell parts, modify various target cells or deliver molecules including drugs to HSPCs and related cells.

A process for converting naphtha, lower olefin, light aromatic hydrocarbon, and gasoline with a high octane number by combining catalytic cracking of naphtha with steam cracking of lower alkane and catalytic cracking of higher alkanes and higher olefins. The process increases the yield of product with high value and significantly decreases the yield of low value product. At the same time, the power consumption is decreased as a whole since most reactants are converted in catalytic cracking at a lower temperature.
