A method of repairing damaged airfoils. The method comprises the steps of stripping thermal barrier coatings from the airfoil. After the coatings are removed, cracks are removed from the airfoil. Cracks that appear in the bond coat area over the airfoil fillet portion are removed by locally grit blasting the fillet portion of the airfoil. This operation also results in locally removing the bond coating from the fillet portion. Cracks and other damage sustained by the airfoil tip are removed and replaced by welding superalloy material. The airfoil then may be cleaned by thermal etching. The airfoil is then placed in a plating tool permitting preferential plating of airfoil areas from which plating has been removed. After plating, the airfoil is then heat treated to diffuse the platinum coating with the superalloy substrate materials. The diffusion heat treated airfoil is aluminided by any aluminiding process, forming a PtAl coating.

A cross flow instability inhibiting assembly generates periodic aerodynamic disturbances on a swept wing. The cross flow instability inhibiting assembly is dynamic in that it can be selectively turned on and off as needed. The cross flow instability inhibiting assembly is a strip of material separating a set of electrodes from a set of electrodes. When energized, the fields created between the electrodes and electrodes create plasma disturbances around the electrodes. The electric fields and plasma create heating and body force disturbances on the air or surrounding fluid. These plasma generated disturbances disrupt development of unstable voriticity due to cross flow, inhibiting transition to turbulent flow of the wing to which it is attached. The electrodes may be connected to electrical power in series or they may be connected to an alternating configuration. The system allows for various uses based on the design of the wing and the conditions in which the host aircraft is flying.

A method for attaching antennae to RFID tags is disclosed. Included is the use of RFID tags having asymmetrical interconnect system for one or more antennae, such that virtually any rotational orientation of the RFID tag will result in a successful antennae attachment. Two oversized and “L” shaped gold-bumped holes can be arranged on the same side of the ship in an opposing action, such that at least one axis of symmetry is formed. Accordingly, virtually all rotational orientations of the chip are then acceptable when attaching a pair of opposing pole antenna leads. Alternatively, a pair of poles can be located on opposing chips surfaces, such that antenna substrates can be attached to both the top and bottom of the chip to form a product “sandwich”, whereby the rotational orientation of the chip is irrelevant at an antenna attachment step.

A method for bus arbitration is for use when working with multi-carrier modulation methods. Each user on a bus is assigned a unique address which identifies the user and which is transmitted upon each initiation of communication. The address is represented as a sequence of binary numerals, the number of bits of the binary numerals being equal to the number of carriers used in the multi-carrier modulation method. This sequence of binary numerals is transmitted successively for the arbitration via the multi-carrier modulation method, a user being eliminated from the arbitration when a further user at the same time has transmitted a binary numeral having higher priority. The transmission of the binary numeral may be repeated if the arbitration of the numeral does not lead to a result in one step. The method for bus arbitration may be used advantageously in a system for contactless energy supply. The resource discovery record describes the computing resource and may be independent of native service discovery mechanisms of the peer-to-peer network. An access right record is created that controls the ability of one or more contacts to gain access to the resource discovery record. The resource discovery record is sent to the one or more contacts via the peer-to-peer network. The one or more contacts can use the resource discovery record to access the computing resource via the peer-to-peer network in accordance with the access right record.

A network monitoring system maintains both information regarding historical activity of a network, and information regarding emergent activity of the network. Comparison of historical activity of the network with emergent activity of the network allows the system to determine whether network activity is changing over time. The network monitoring system maintains data structures representing a p.d.f. for observable values of network parameters. Recent activity of the network can be compared with both the p.d.f. for historical activity and for emergent activity to aid in determining whether that recent activity is within the realm of normal, and whether network activity is changing over time. The network monitoring system adjusts that information regarding historical activity of a network in response to emergent activity of that network. The network monitoring device determines information regarding time-dependent activity of that network in response to spectral analysis regarding historical activity of that network.

In various exemplary embodiments, a system and an associated method for presenting a commerce application to an electronic device of an end-user. The method includes establishing electronic communications from the end-user to a first server (e.g., an electronic marketplace) in response to the end-user accessing a widget presented by the first server, and establishing electronic communications between the first server and a second server. The second server may be another electronic marketplace. The first server sends a chrome to the end-user. Substantially concurrent with the first server sending a chrome, the second server transmits electronically an Iframe to be placed within the chrome on a browser on an electronic device of the end-user. The blending of the chrome and the Iframe is transparent to the end user; thus, the end-user may be unaware that additional information (e.g., in terms of the Iframe and any accompanying metadata) is being received from the second server.

An application resource manager is provided to organize, prioritize, and optimize data transmissions from several connected applications. Through inter-process communication, the several connected applications may pass all transmission requests to the centralized manager, which will perform all transmissions according to priority. When the transmission includes a download (e.g., file, email, etc.), the manager will pass the complete file (or a pointer to the same) to the originally requesting application. The original application may perform post-processing and then use the downloaded data, including making the data available to the user. If however, the requesting application is offline, the manager may also perform, e.g., the essential post-processing, via a plug-in given to the manager by the application when the application initially connected to the manager. A full sized user interface and a smaller user interface may be provided for un-intrusive execution.

Systems and methods for constructing multiple-level filtering information that is applicable for an aggregate of multiple messages. According to various embodiments, a set of filtering values is constructed for a first level as a union of all filter values of the filtering criteria that belong to the intersection set of filter criteria. At the receiver side, the aggregate transport object is filtered based on the first-level filtering information as a first process. The first-level filtering information may be separate of the transport object. If the transport object is not discarded after first-level filtering, then the second-level filtering information, which requires the processing of the transport object, is used to fetch the messages in the bundle.

The present invention is directed to a method for updating a cache. A server identifies whether certain preconditions have been met for a document in a cache from freshness parameters associated with a document identifier for the document. Then when the preconditions have been met, a first document content is retrieved from a remote host. A first content fingerprint for the first document content is calculated. The first document content is stored in the cache. Then a content difference is calculated between the first document content and a second document content, both associated with the document identifier. The content difference is stored. Then the document identifier is associated with the content difference.

In the method of the invention, requests received by a request distributor are distributed to server computers. The request distributor uses distribution information for selecting, as a destination for the requests, a server computer. A first request relating to a delivery of a service is received by the request distributor and sent to one server computer. The server computer then receives the first request. Finally, it is determined whether a further request relating to the delivery of the service is expected to be received by the request distributor, and, if so, distribution information is made available to the request distributor.
