The Fair-Ordering Service delivers action messages to the server as soon as it is feasible. Because action messages from different players exhibit different reaction times with respect to an update message, the Fair-Ordering Service executed at the server dynamically enforces a sufficient waiting period on each action message to guarantee the fair processing of all action messages. The Fair-Ordering Service takes into consideration delayed and out-of-order action messages. When action messages corresponding to multiple update messages are interleaved, the Fair-Ordering Service matches the action message to the appropriate update message by maintaining a window of update messages and using the reaction times for an action message for each of the update messages in the window. This enables state changes at the game server to be performed with fairness to all the players. The Fair-Ordering Service is based on a framework that uses a proxy architecture.

Within aerofoils, and in particular nozzle guide vane aerofoils in gas turbine engines problems can occur with regard to coolant flows from respective inlets at opposite ends of a cavity within the aerofoil. The cavity generally defines a hollow core and unless care is taken coolant flow can pass directly across the internal cavity. Previously baffle plates were inserted within the cavity to prevent such direct jetting across the cavity. Such baffle plates are subject to additional costs as well as potential unreliability problems. Baffles formed integrally with a wall within the aerofoil allow more reliability with regard to positioning as well as consistency of performance. The baffles can be perpendicular, upward or downwardly orientated or have a compound angle.

Provided herein are systems and methods for use in controlling a translocation process of a pneumatic tube system in order to reduce the amount of energy transferred from the tube system to a pneumatic carrier and, hence, its contents. Generally, these utilities entail identifying and/or reducing forces applied to a pneumatic carrier traveling through a travel path within a pneumatic tube system. The systems and method disposed herein allow for varying the velocity of a pneumatic carrier as it passes through a travel path of the pneumatic system. Such varying of the velocity allows for reducing the total forces applied to the pneumatic carrier during passage through the system. In one arrangement, the power output of a power source connected to a compressor device is altered to vary the velocity of pneumatic carries in the system.

Barriers for flood defense and other purposes are often constructed using sand bags. The strength of these barriers is limited and the invention seeks to address this problem. The invention provides a tie formed as a single injection moulded item placed between layers of sandbags to help to hold them together. The tie has two rigid triangular end plates (4) and (5) linked by a flexible arm (11). The end plates are formed with protruding spikes (6) shaped with a barb so that they will easily penetrate the fabric of a sandbag but are difficult to pull out. In an image forming apparatus, a liquid supply control processor controls to detect and store a difference amount corresponding to a displacement amount of a displacing member between a position detected by a first sensor and another position detected by a second sensor; measure a consumed liquid amount; start the liquid supply upon the consumed liquid amount reaching a predetermined threshold so as to supply the difference amount after the first sensor has detected the displacing member; and stop the liquid supply when the first sensor does not detect the displacing member before a preset predetermined time has passed. The control processor controls the image forming apparatus such that, when the liquid supply is performed without using the second sensor, using a first and second predetermined threshold times and the first threshold time is set longer than the second threshold time.

Ejection of ink is prohibited when a count value of an amount of ink supplied from an ink tank to an ejection head reaches a value limit. An image is displayed to prompt an operator of the printing apparatus to confirm the amount of ink in the ink tank. When the ink remains, the count value of the amount of ink is returned only by a given amount by the selection of the operator. Thus, since the ink in the ink tank is sufficiently consumed and then the ink can be supplemented, all of the ink in an ink bottle can be supplemented. As a consequence, it is possible to prevent the ink remaining in the ink bottle from deteriorating and prevent the remaining ink from being supplemented.

A hoist ring assembly with expansion anchor includes an anchor subassembly and a rotatable and pivotable lifting loop. The anchor subassembly includes a bushing element, an engagement element and a retainer element. The bushing element has an anchor shaft extending along a major axis. The engagement element has a threaded bore extending long a bore axis which is approximately parallel to the major axis when the assembly is in assembled state. The threaded bore is adapted to threadably receive a threaded portion of the retainer element. The bore axis may be forced out of alignment with the major axis by way of a tightening rotation of the threaded portion with respect to the threaded bore, thus expanding the effective diameter of the combined anchor shaft and engagement element. The assembly is thereby releasably anchorable to a pre-drilled hole in a load to be lifted.
